    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

I very much doubt anyone even bothered to read the T&Cs Martin, a good explanation on why from Eddie Izzard…

It’s not like anyone is going to take them to court over it!

Yes, there will always be water in the base of a dishwasher hence the first thing it does is drain that off to clear as much standing water as possible.

Depending on the design, there will be water in the pump housings because the magnetic commutator if you will is lubricated by that water. So you should have water between the motor commutator and the plastic housing for the magnets and field coil.

On magnetic pumps mechanical failure other than the very obvious is incredibly rare. If hey fail mechanically it’s patently obvious they’re knackered, usually the pump impeller will sheer off the shaft or something gets in with the water (particulates) that will lead to noise but other than that they are extremely reliable for the most part.

Electrically about all that an go wrong os the coil fails, goes open circuit or a TOC fails if fitted but almost all won’t have one, no need really if you use the correctly rated pump.

Basically if you dumb it down, it’s no more than a few magnets and a coil.

Hey Tim, maybe you’re not as valuable as silver and gold so Simon’s better than you are! 😆

I’d expect it a combination of turnover, payment and so on though despite the humorous take above. Or perhaps they’re going to introduce a reward scheme or whatever based on the account rank. Could be a discount level indicator.

Has anyone asked what it is?

    Doubt it.

Betcha there’s some development money been thrown at that. 😉

And double in volume in five years or less, how? The only way I can think you could achieve that in a stagnant market is probably to buy up some market share by acquiring competitors. Or you slash prices.

Either isn’t exactly what I’d tick off as “good”. Neither likely good for the repair sector, possibly the exact opposite.

Mains suppressor would certainly sound like the first thing to be looking at but also mains lead, plug, and socket could all be suspect if it trips just plugged in.

Most likely a valve fault by the sound of it but I’m not familiar with the machine myself.

Re: Does anyone use Paym to receive payments

Why not just use one of the Paypal mobile things or the plethora of others you can get?

Most payment services offer it but it’s a minefield these days in my view, so many services are available now and sussing what’s good, bad or indifferent I expect is pretty tough.

We currently use First Data who have been good. Charges are low but it takes a few working days for the cash to show up in your account however, if you can live with that the charges drop.

I believe there’s also one of the payments people at the conference in Feb that is actually offering a very attractive deal that day, cash back and whatever. I wasn’t paying too much attention to it as mobile payment isn’t really relevant to myself but it was said that it was a good deal.

Might be worth asking about that as I know Lawrence uses that service and rates it highly.

It’s either that or, more likely, the switch PCB has failed which is this one:

On that hood though there’s also a start/run capacitor for the motor that could also be a possibility.

I think the green light you’re seeing is the thermostat light that should go out if/when it reaches temperature.

There will be a cooling fan that’s running I expect and, that’ll be the noise.

However that machine was made by Siltal for Tecnik and almost all parts are obsolete now I’m afraid.

    Re: Whirlpool ADG7550

It sounds like a failure to drain but that’s all the code tells you, it hasn’t drained or at least, it can’t detect that machine has drained.

That could be a pump problem, blockage, pressure switch and so on that are all possibles.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

    Maybe’s aye, maybe’s no.

Perhaps that’s a subject for the WTA forum to try to get a handle on how many WTA members are affected as, it’s hard for them to go and say “some members” when it might only be two or three which, wouldn’t hold much significance or sway with the argument.

If all were members, maybe a bit more leverage but who knows how many actual WTA members are affected.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

You’ll get no argument from me, the later it runs to the better it is for me as well.

But, you can only do what you can do and from what I gathered when speaking to Qualtex this was imposed by the carriers, not them and what I was told certainly seemed to be true.

We get the same thing, the courier gets a new driver, they change the route, a subcontractor doing pickup can all alter how you have to work and tough, too bad that’s the way it is as they won’t change unless they have reason.

CDSL seem to be lucky in some regard with this just because of where they are I expect as, for a lot of the carriers Birmingham is a main hub so, no problem.

It’s pretty much the same thing in a way where any of you guys, the repairers, refuse a call or refuse to go to an area or only go to it at certain times or days and, too bad that’s what suits your business. That’s outwith anyone’s control bar yours and might well be the only way whatever it is can be made viable. It may even be dependent on something that isn’t under your control.

Point being, it isn’t just as cut and dried as, they can sort it and do whatever is demanded as there very likely are factors preventing it.

I know that George was pushing Qualtex for a later cut off for the WTA but, far as I am aware, the issue again was the carriers on it, not Qualtex. They like us just have to live with it whether they like it or not.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

That was only really thing they did for the WTA and dropped it, I believe due to the courier changing stuff and not being able to do it. Which is fair enough but I can understand why a number of people got a bit upset by it.

But if a business you rely on shifts the ground beneath you, what can you do?

What could the WTA do? Force the courier to comply with demands?

Not a lot in either instance.

Since then there’s been no arrangement with/for the WTA that I am aware of. And, after that collapsed I don’t think the member list has been supplied to Qualtex either although as I don’t take much to do with the running of the WTA I can’t say for sure, I’m sure Lawrence or one of the guys will be able to answer that.

That being the case though, I can’t fathom what the WTA has to do with it, they can hardly force Qualtex to run their business in any way members demand. They can ask sure, but given the apparent belligerence shown with this, just how far are they gonna get?

I honestly can’t say what the WTA can or can’t do, I guess they could ask that this policy wouldn’t apply to WTA members but there again, the damage already seems to be done as unless people would be willing to go back it’d be a meaningless effort.

    Just my take of course.

To be honest, if you need help to that degree I’d suggest getting someone to look at it for you.
