Welcome back Chris and best of luck with getting back to work.

Top oven thermostat and switch is obsolete.

Only CDSL show it so I can’t tell you what the part number is.

    Re: Oven tripping MCB

Sorry I misunderstood that bit, I thought it was one oven and not both.

If both ovens are not working then yeah, the timer would seem logical unless there’s a safety stat that cuts both out as well.

I’d check the wiring and the element first before jumping to that conclusion.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

Y’all do know that ASW (Appliance Spares Warehouse) is wholly owned and operated by Qualtex don’t you?

Just as are a number of others including many on Amazon and Ebay.

Ditto, CDSL, HTM and Maddocks. They all do it and unless you really know what you’re looking at I’d guess many haven’t a clue who they’re actually buying from.

    Rebranding, gotta love it! 😕

Re: using my oven without innermost glass

    Politically correct answer is, no.

Real world answer is, so long as you’re cooking at low temperatures (i.e. less than 200?C) it’ll probably be okay but, can’t guarantee that.

Should you do so it is entirely at your risk obviously but if it were me, I probably wouldn’t.

Do you think they’re going to give up on the appliance side of things Ally?

It wouldn’t be a shocker if they did.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

It is true, some trade prices are higher than retail. Who’d have thought!

We see that all the time, especially on the more unusual stuff or spares that with some clever sourcing can be retailed at under what are often viewed as trade prices from some suppliers. It’s not really anyone’s fault and the prices online dictate the pricing level.

But you won’t get account facilities and all the trappings, it’s a pay up front job.

We’ve discussed this at the conference many times going back to the one way back in Manchester I think it was a decade ago. And it’s been on here any number of times as well.

    Re: Qualtex Account Closure

I think what you may not be thinking on is the cost to run accounts. It does cost money to do so.

You have the cost of administering them in terms of the accountancy to maintain them, send statements, chase payments, deal with queries and all that stuff and that takes time. Where you’re paying staff to do all that it carries a cost burden.

Then there’s the cost of giving the credit which can prove more substantial again.

Just hypothetically let’s say whatever business has 100 accounts spending £100 a month, that’s a rolling credit liability of £10,000 on the books.

In spares, on trade margins, you’ll be doing well if there’s £1000 profit in that.

For probably less than half a wage you’ve got to maintain 100 accounts and fund them. Financially, that may well make no sense to continue with.

It’s not hard to see why any might look at it in that light and, discontinue accounts that are not profitable just in the same way anyone running a business would do, yourselves included I expect. As, you sure ain’t going to want to be losing money and, neither would Qualtex or anyone else.

Despite the cries of, it’s all about profit or words to that effect, it may well be more about not supporting accounts that simply make no money and, therefore are not viable.

The bit I don’t get is the likes of Toni where he’s paying with an order and there’s no credit, that to me doesn’t really make a lot of sense.

I also don’t understand why they didn’t offer some form of discount on the retail store either as, that would have at least softened the blow I expect.

I get it in some ways but don’t in others.
