KeymasterRe: Fagor dishwasher LPU-0731T.
Sounds like the flood protection is flipping on so, there’s probably a leak into the base from something.

Vestel give them the bullet basically.
You’ll be happy though, Mr Feek is well pissed off about it I’m informed. 😉
They’ve lost all the Argos, Homebase, Sharp, Servis and God only knows what else, huge hit for them.

KeymasterRe: Too hot
If the neon stays on when it’s all off the best guess is the oven function switch but, it is a “best guess” only.
I don’t think that a faulty stat would cause that.
If it was overheating then it’s all too likely that it’s the main oven thermostat that was the problem and, it’s then tripped out on the safety thermostat, exactly as it should do.
The only way that you’re going to know for sure is to get inside it with a meter and work out where the problem/s are.

KeymasterRe: Service Force Bournemouth
I don’t know him Alex.
But if he was doing that, chances are it was to make ends meet as, it’s a hell of a risk with Lux to do that.
Beko have employed engineers in some high volume areas so, that may be the reason he lost that.
No, Alan would have had them hoisted up on a cross long ago. No way that’d have happened they now appear to care more about getting a body to the door than much else. But, give control to idiot middle managers and accountants…
So SF have gone to JTM there as well, interesting. I wonder if they are aware of what’s gone on with Vestel and JTM?

Yeah, you’d need to ask Lux for that I’m afraid.
We’re not allowed to redistribute a lot of stuff like that due to copyright, insurance and all that. 🙁

It was part number 073735713 but I’m afraid that’s now obsolete with no alternatives you could use.
In fairness, so far as I can tell that cooker was last built in 1999.

KeymasterRe: Electrolux EOC68000 door mechanism permanently locked
The only place you’ll get a diagram for it is from Electrolux and they’re not usually willing to give them out to the public lest some should fries themselves then sues Lux for it. The same reason we’re prevented from doing any number of things, blame the politically correct litigious society and ambulance chasers along with insurers that won’t cover such things.
If you can swap the switches fair enough but in Lux’s eyes it’s a sealed unit and the internal wiring of it, if that’s what you’re after, wouldn’t be given anyway.

KeymasterRe: Integrated Fridge Freezer Hinges
I’ve been asked this several times recently and I think I know why now, the cost difference.
The short answer is, no you cannot do that I’m afraid.
The cabinets and doors are setup to use one or the other system and they are completely not interchangeable in any way whatsoever.
If you need the fixed door type I’m afraid you’re stuck with the higher cost.

Yeah, I see it, complete assembly and not cheap either. The best I could get it was as shown here:
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/38710900 … -door-lock
The main board’s a possible but I wouldn’t have thought that likely from what I can see from the layout of it. And, it’s not cheap either as I’m sure you’d guessed already.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
No clue how many went overseas but you will see “export” against models, there’s a number of them obviously but not that many.
Dryers are primarily a peculiarly Northern EU and Northern US/Canada thing, they are a far rarer sight in more pleasant countries, weather wise at least so it’s a limited market. That’s why not many make them all things considered, just look at what’s out there, most of it is rebadged stuff like White Knight or some other clone. Reason being, so far as I can gather, there’s not enough volume for many to be bothered with the cost of setting up to produce them due to lack of interest.
I don’t have the data to support it but, it wouldn’t surprise me even slightly if the biggest market in the EU for dryers was the UK followed by the Nordics. Germany as well perhaps in there.
As they don’t sell all that well (relatively speaking) across the EU you have things like a lack of built in options, perhaps a handful, which demonstrates the point. And, as is the case with these machines and WK etc, they rarely ever change I think as it’s not worth putting a lot into it because of the “low” volumes and, just what can you do with a dryer really other than maybe make it a bit better or a bit cheaper?
So how many go overseas, no idea, but my instinct is, not as many as you might think.

KeymasterRe: Bosch KAN62V41GB / 02 Freezer not cooling
If you call Bosch they will put it on cover an repair (if possible) for about £12 a month which may be the best option for you as, regardless of ho you go here, it’s really not a DIY one.
I’d suspect a thermistor or a compressor problem but, it’s a guess.

Nope.
Either it is open circuit or mot pretty much.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Gotta love stats. They never lie. 😉
Yes, so far as I am aware there are or, where, that number being produced but there’s a bit of a fly in that ointment, or a few.
The “average” lifespan across the board is about 7 years roughly. But, that’s across all.
Heavily mechanical products will skew that as they will fail sooner and, it also depends on what it encompasses as well. For example, low use products will last longer, primarily dishwashers and microwaves as well as dryers. They tend to last longer simply as they are used less, dishwashers as they get used once ever two to three days on average. Microwaves the same deal in general use. Dryers not used largely in summer months or better weather but still not heavily used in winter for many as they are perceived as guzzling electricity which = cost. The incentive for consumers is not to use them if it can be avoided due to the perceived high running cost, even if that is not true, doesn’t matter, it effects use.
But, hard data or stats on this is almost impossible to find.
What you can get is that the heavy use where there is a household of 3 or 4+ users is a small proportion of the total. Those likely form the bulk of what the repairers see or, get scrapped after a few years as they’ve been spanked.
Point being, there could well be any number out there way back a decade or more, easily.
Logically when you put it all together, as best you can, the only conclusion you can arrive at is that there’s a monumentally large number of these things out there. It wouldn’t even remotely surprise me if Hotpoint, Indesit, Whirlpool haven’t a clue how many or, how big this problem actually ends up being.
Chances of us being even remotely close to the truth, slim.
