KeymasterThe mains switch is usually reasonably simple as that’s just a make/break switch effectively for more, the format varies but the same idea on all.
It’s this: https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/816450164-smeg-dishwasher-power-switch
Simply metering it will test if it’s okay. All it does is make or break.
The mains filter is really a capacitor in disguise and if they got there usually evidently failed but I do think that’s a long shot here. That said, it’s not an uncommon thing to fail, this kind part is what you’re looking for but the format can vary:

Door switch, maybe.
But from what you’re saying, if it’s trying to fill and not, the valve needs checking as well.
After that though your into checking the recric pump, boards and stuff so it gets a lot harder.

Keymaster|Have checked the supply is okay?
After that, mains filter then mins switch, then you get into the more difficult stuff.

KeymasterYou will struggle badly to get one.
THat’s a Termikel made machine for Argos and getting parts for those is nigh impossible. 🙁
K.
kwatt
KeymasterThat is correct, it was a new door to solve it.
Some brave souls have repaired them but it’s not easy apparently but the worst of it is, Daewoo seem to have gone bust and you won’t get the door now, absolutely no hope of it I’m afraid.
K.

KeymasterFully defrost it, completely off for at least 24 hours then restart it.
If the door’s been left open there’s a very high chance there’s ice build up in the rear preventing it from working correctly and for that to defrost fully and clear will take a good bit of time.

KeymasterIf the temp has gotten that high, you’ve lost the food already. 🙁
Once it starts to defrost, refreezing any food can be extremely dangerous to the point of it being a serious health risk, depends on the foodstuffs as some are more dangerous than others, fish and poultry the worst, but none can be defrosted and refrozen safely without cooking it first.
And the way to look at that is, you and your family’s health and wellbeing are worth more than a few quids worth of food.
This is almost universally true with any freezer faults if it’s gotten to the point you can see there’s a problem the contents are already lost. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, it is a fact.
And, unless you’ve got specific insurance cover for loss of contents, it’s a total write off and loss to you I’m afraid.
As to what’s wrong with it, without more info, I can’t say.
K.

KeymasterYes, that’s exactly what it’s for, to give the half load function that hardly anyone uses anyway.
K.

KeymasterThe machine thinks it’s not empty. Whether it physically is or not isn’t relevant.
So it has to be a level sensor or something that’s blocked ort faulty.
K.
kwatt
KeymasterIt’ll never be right with that faulty unless you can open it up and jam it open somehow.

KeymasterHonestly, my first thought was, “one of those has lasted 12 years!!!” 😉
It’s one of their Chinese ones and bluntly put, not worth spending much if any money on it at that age and most assuredly not the well over £100 for a wash pump and, that’s all you can get, the full thing or nothing.

KeymasterThermostat/s?
Without a make and model it’s not really possible to help.
K.
kwatt
KeymasterYup.
It’s a common theme, someone that has no idea about the industry really trying to do stuff like this.

KeymasterThat is the dude’s name apparently.

KeymasterSo all can see what is being discussed, spelling/grammar not mine and name/area references removed:
Good afternoon,
My name is Spike Patching, and I’m the director of Service Site Domestic Appliances (Service Site LTD).
We currently receive 20+ appliance repair requests a day from our customers in ****** and, although we have existing engineers, we need to improve their efficiency by lightning the workload and bringing repair locations closer to each engineer. Therefore, we are interested in appointing some repair jobs to ***********, depending how many jobs you can fulfil and the areas/appliances you cover etc.
************** is now cordially invited to join us as a new, independent, third-party subcontractor to support our existing engineer network and repair our customer’s appliances in **************.
After researching online and comparing providers in ******* I believe you may be the right company for us and we are looking to build a lasting partnership for years to come.
We are looking for a company that is keen and willing to take on the work as this is a significant opportunity. Most of our third-party subcontractors received thousands of pounds of work from us over the past year and, ultimately, our company is likely to request repairs from you almost every day.
If you are able to provide your services to us, please give details of your coverage (Postcode areas, appliances, brands not covered etc.). We have a form designed to take this information from prospective subcontractors (link below).
https://servicesite.typeform.com/to/******
If you would prefer to speak with someone instead, my staff can take this information by telephone. Please call 020 3600 0933 and ask to speak with our Engineer Team, and please quote your company name ************** (this is important!). If they are unavailable, one of the team will call you straight back.
In terms of payment, we pay much faster than the average client, making this opportunity of even more significance to you. You will receive a direct cash payment at the end of the repair or, if our customer is paying us by card/invoice, within seven days maximum (Balance owed sent every Monday by instant transfer).
We are looking to begin our relationship with the following rates;
£50 plus parts per job with status “Completed.”
£25 per job with status “Beyond Economical Repair.” (couldn’t be repaired)As we would be a large client, please let me give you some further information about our company and customers.
We are Service Site LTD. We supply, install and repair domestic household appliances nationwide.
Our customer base is comprised mainly of public individuals who are loyal to our brand, and we also provide services for landlords, property/facility management companies and insurance companies.
Our aim is to improve the domestic appliance industry, and help the environment, by encouraging repairs over replacements. We are currently developing the largest and most complex engineer network in the country, helping to bring repairs closer to engineers, thus reducing time/travel/fuel, as well as helping to drive repair costs down without impacting engineer’s earnings.
With shorter travel times engineers can cater for more repairs per day, which allows for faster and more cost effective repairs, and ultimately helps to encourage more people to repair their appliances, rather than replace them.
Every third-party company that we approve into our network has been carefully selected by analysing online reviews and customer feedback. We only outreach to companies that are likely to be industry leaders in their local area, and an asset to our company.
By working together, we believe we can improve the appliance repair industry as a whole. If you would like to read more about our company, you can do so here: https://www.servicesite.co.uk/about
Going forward, if you’re happy to work together for a short while to see how things go, then I will await the return of your coverage information using the link provided and one of our engineer team will be in touch to discuss the next steps.

Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
So, here’s the deal…
They (like some others) will go out and try to hoover up any repair work off the internet and take the calls.
In this case, apparently, charge £89 or more. So I’ve been told, I’ll run with it and assume that’s correct.
Pay you £50. Or £25 which is less than most people’s cost to turn up on the doorstep for a BER.
I know that there’s warranty work never mind insurance work that you get paid more for that, which is in effect, chargeable work in your own area.
I don’t get it. I just don’t understand why anyone would sign up to these sorts of schemes, it’s bonkers. You get the same work you’d probably have gotten anyway for less money and slower payment. Why would you do that?
It’s like signing up to do work for a competitor in your patch for less than they get so they can sit at home with their feet up while you go out and graft for them. It’s just completely crazy, nobody in their right mind would do this, surely?
You’d be better to set up a decent website of your own, get an online enquiry thing going on and you’ll rank higher in a local search anyway. Cheaper than paying the likes of this mob £39 a call for doing what, passing you a lead?
