I am amazed that more people are not electrocuted when I see the bodged wiring jobs in houses especially when machines that require an earth lead are used with 2 core extension leads, thats why over the years I’ve always done an earth continuity test on machines.

If its of any help i had this fault a few weeks ago and it was the rectifier at the back of the machine. Not easy to spot but when i looked closely the one side of the large copper coil had broken its contact to the board so i resoldered it to the board and its been ok ever since.Larry.

    Re: Premature Bearing Failure

Well reading that seems to reasure my thoughts about these seals being so useless anything which is going to spin inside a metal casing needs lubrication.
These seals must start breaking down after about the first spin ,whenever ive replaced these ive always put a good big dollop of water proof grease behind the seal when fitting it, and have to say have had good results bearings have lasted a few years or more. But at least we could get inside these tubs and have a go not like the stuff being produced now with bearings constantly going after 12 – 18 months then the machine just goes to the scrap yard its eventually going to make us all redundant unless we can upsell to people so they buy a machine that can be repaired.

    Re: Washing machine rentals.

This rental thing seems a good idea just wondering is there a standard rental/lease form available and if you hire out new machines is the manufacturers warranty still valid.

    Re: Washing machine rentals.

This is an interesting idea what sort of money does someone pay
to rent a machine these days and also what machines last long enough to get a profit back on them .

Dont know if this helps but i had this problem about a month ago
turns out the customer hadn’t tightened the cap enough on the salt pot,Also it may be worth checking for damage to the cap.

This may sound a bit daft but have you checked if the machine has been accidentally connected to the hot tap.Ive had this problem before.

    Re: Premature Bearing Failure

Im constantly seeing newer machines everyday with bearing failure,The indesit/hpt welded plastic tubs seem to go after a cccouple of years i havn’t cut one open but if the seal is the same as the ones fitted to the hpt wma range iwould have thought these seals would leak from the first day the machine was used it doesn’t even seem to be a proper seal at least not like alot of other makers use its not a face seal like the old servis ones as theres no front half to the seal and they don’t work like an oil seal because theres no inner lip so it beats me how it works at all.
