    Re: The eBay revolution

That’s the thing, the general advice to most of our woes has always been “move with the times” “dont stand still” “adapt to trends”.

Which is why I’m gonna start a Saniflow franchise, at least I’ll know i’m dealing with shit daily as opposed to being fed it.

You forgot the yellow kevlar sleeves, high vis and eye protection.

As far as Asbestos go’s, yes it’s nasty and you wouldn’t want to eat it, but as humans we are all going to die.

My mummy smoked on the hospital ward she gave birth on, nearly got the drugs that affected unborn children causing growth defects. Went to a school that was built with Asbestos, spent my childhood riding bikes without holding the handles miles away from home. Both parents smoked like chimneys all their lives, even in the car in winter without the windows open. Played on waste ground and in abandoned factories. Drove my first car like Carlos Sainz on acid. Spent a Xmas eve in in A & E after p*ssing of some guy. Spent many more nights pisssing people off. Played ice hockey and p*ssed a few more peeps off.

So I’ll be f*****r eyed if l’m gonna be bothered about some Asbestos in a cooker.

    Re: cooker hood question

Best one l had was a stainless unit with glass canopy, sparky placed socket on wall, fitter installed hood, not level and placed chimney over socket then kitchen fitter fitted units each side and plinthed in front of the chimney. Then tiler tiled all around the unit cutting tiles at an angle due to hood knowhere near level. Then bulb blew, took out fuse and created a bit of a fuss.

So many dumb people in one place.

Re: new washing machine suggestion please.

All appliances require servicing, the replacement of wearing components. We see broken appliances and to be honest l doubt if many of us actually do the daily washing in any great numbers to be of use. Most clients do not wash correctly, this does posse issues to the results which causes a lot of blame onto the product when in fact the person using it is the issue.

I personally view us as not the most qualified to advise, it’s too random and many brands buy in from external factories, ones view of l don’t repair this brand but recommend this, only to be unaware internally it’s the same product.

I once called to a guy adamant he’d never buy anything but Bosch, his faulty dryer though had been built by and sold not only as a Bosch but also as a White Knight, the only difference was price and facia design.

I’ve also read on here people who repair one brand, refuse to touch others and yet the model indicates no difference between the two.

I personally own a Zanussi, easy to fix, parts cheap or rather free and the wife has no issues, she’s not had issues with our previous machines of Candy, Hotpoint. I reconditioned a Beko for my sis and my mummy has a Bosch. None have issues.

My only advice is to search for one in your price range that appeals, read the instructions, follow the instructions and don’t expect not to need it repairing.

Re: Pinpointing this pesky gas leak

Ptfe tape is a method of seal, therefore should not be used, plus Ptfe is not to be used as it’s for sealing water, not gas.

Electronic detectors pick up gases, therefore should be set outside and the bleeps regulated accurately. It takes practice and they can give false readings.

The fact you have not found a leak and are asking questions on here would suggest you need a professional. We invest a lot of time and money in becoming skilled, it’s not a hobby and it’s not easy.

I had a client yesterday after being asked to remove his baking trays from an oven his response was to tell me he did not need to as l should be working behind the cooker, my response to his uneducated opinion was to remove the trays and any further instructions l give you are for a reason, l’d suggest you do the same.
