ParticipantRe: Samsung Rs20ccms
Do you have an evaporator in the fridge section ?
Samsung have had major issues with the over icing in the fridge compartment, to the point it reached the Watchdog programme.
If it is that one, basically its a crap design with no solution other than replacing the Evap cover, sensors, heat deflector to evap cover and pray.
The poly foam they used causes moisture trap and not heat to dry out, which causes the vents to block, temp to go funny and cancelling of defrost.

ParticipantRe: Lok Ring
Thanxs for the replies, but i`m after a web supplier with a well photographed site, rather than a phone number.I`ve had hassle trying to explain part requirements to people who have no idea of the product or tech speak.
I`ve been using lok ring far around 8 yrs, never had an issue so far.
But you have to select the location of joints b4 repair, if it don`t level pipe away from bends or is in a bad location, simply don`t use.

ParticipantRe: Integrated son of a b****
I found the best course of action is to show the clients the issue with the installation before moving the appliance, if there gonna be a pain, argue etc you`ll now at this stage rather than 55 min later covered in sweat and really irritated.
Having said that if you work for a manufacturer, the client will probably ring and complain about your helpful attitude. 😥
Gotta love the customer`s.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL 2260 Filter Cap
Does the cap unscrew easily ?
I ask because a lot a problems unscrewing are usually caused by the clients wife washing there bra`s in the m/c and resulting in the wires catching in the filter guards preventing the cap from unscrewing easily.

Penguin45,
Moderator.I agree not to advise live testing but when the rules state “We will not advise any member of the public to live test”
My question is who is the WE, is that members of the forum or staff members of the forum ?
I ask because it reads to me that i can advise another member but the admin moderators cannot, so it can be misunderstood as a rule.

ParticipantRe: Electrolux ethos. Its all in the name.
Its a difficult question to answer simply.
Most components eg water valves, belts, pulleys etc etc are made in the same factory as all the other manufacturers.
Electrolux etc etc don`t fabricate a washing machine, they simply design and assemble.
Electrolux and everybody else source there components from independent factories and then simply fit them all together on a production line.
The PCB from a Bosch, will more than likely come from the same factory as an Electrolux one.
Panasonic make Magnatrons for nearly all microwaves found in the UK and Europe.
Even the cables and connector blocks can be found on all the other guys Machines.
Whilst some motors/drums will visually look the same, materials can defer and two identical looking motors could well have different failure rates.
So no they can be different.

Rule of thumb as far as UKW is concerned for future readers, is unplug appliance before taking any lids or panels off and definately NO Live testing.Gegsy (UKW Moderator)
I agree up until the point of taking off the lids and panels.
Its better to unplug the appliance, ensure nothing silly has happened, like someone switching the mains off, then call a suitable qualified person to call and repair.
I don`t oftern come across faults that people from outside the industry could repair correctly.

Customer – “What would you do if it didn’t work after all of that?”
“I’d set it on fire and then dance naked around the flames.”
Good plan.
Also why do customers complain that there ovens/kitchens are getting dirty.
Its an oven, not a blepping super model, kitchens like workshops are there to be worked in, not to show the neighbours how much you owe the bank.

We don’t need to be advising live testing do we as there really is no need.
Also if he is going to lift the lid, surely he should unplug the appliance first :plug:Greg
Obviously no unqualified person should work live, which is why I stated “Frankly dangerous to an un qualified person”.
Without proper knowledge of circuit`s and the m/c basic functions and systems no person outside of the industry is goin to be able to repair a wta 3100 unless its strikingly obvious.

ParticipantRe: Bosch tumble dryer WTA3100
Its a bit to complicated to explain on here and frankly dangerous to an un qualified person as you`ll need to test either live or with a meter.
Basically live will enter through the terminal box, then through the supressor, then to the timer unit and on/off switch.
If the on/off switch is working chances its the timer or no neutral return.
If you don`t know how to check the on/off switch, don`t attempt to repair your T/D, bite the bullet and call a tech out.

thinking of doing a ”dixons” training course for domestic appliance engineer. then working self employed in spain.
couple of questions, i am concerned that 2 weeks training might not be enough to learn what is needed.
And can anyone advice of reliable supplier for parts in south costa blanca
region ?
many thanks
divcltI worked for Bosch in Spain for 2 years, then self employed for a couple more in the Costa Del Sol.
There are hundreds already there doin it, you`ll also need to be fluent en Castellano as suppliers are Spanish, plus theirs the complicated tax system for you to do every year, if you think our tax in the UK is complicated, try doubling it then put it into Spanish.
I left because its not much fun earning less money in 35 degree heat

ParticipantRe: Samsung American Fridge Freezer RS20CCMS losing temp
The problems with the samsung lie within several badly designed components.
The cause depends on one the Ice pattern, if the Ice is around the fan, then the Modified cover is required to allow heat from the defrost heater to conduct into the cover and prevent blockages in the air channels.
If the Ice pattern is solid around the evaporator then either the Thermal Fuse is O/C or the Heater is O/C.
If the Ice pattern is solid around the drain channel then the drain heater O/C or the drain hole has become blocked.
Its recommended that all Samsung models that haven`t got the replacement NTC and ducts get them replaced at the same time.
Not always a simple Sensor fault.
