    Thats some serious buckling.

I doubt a gas leak caused that, more likely ice has formed behind and forced the wet wall forward.

Insulation on Hotpoint have never been great and never improved.

When I worked for BSH there elements on new appliances were failing within first year.Sometimes multiple calls before end of guarantee. :rolls:

When you look at the pattern to genuine, most are identical.

I`m not saying large companies are using cheaper parts to save costs though. 😆

They`d never sell Balay products at the price level of Bosch. 😆

You should never feel guilty about cost`s, if its over the top chances are the client won`t have it done or you`ll get hassle.

If your charging £50.00 for 45 minutes, then be there 45 minutes.

If your charging £50.00 and your only working 10 minutes, your client will point out that mistake.

Certain top end stores sell cloths made in the far east, by children on very little wages, they sell there company as being green and helping the global community by cutting damaging waste etc etc.

Yet there mark up is in the clouds and they still can`t make a profit.

Another high street shop buys cloths sourced around the world, sells at a far lower retail price, doesn`t exploit or push how eco freindly they are and are making greater profits.

Its basic, source stock at reasonable price and provide the service that suits both you and the client, if you follow the top end too much because your greedy or your business isn`t profitable, you`ll just be delying the inevitable outcome.

I agree NTC rarely fail, there usually on low volt side, no stress on them.

Usually a mod fault or wiring issue to module.

Not dangerous unless she is lighting up next to pipe, but the amount of R600 isn`t high enough to cause an issue.

Reminds me of a call i did for an insurance claim.

Old lady didn`t change battery in gas cooker, she prefered to use fag lighter, only that day as she lit the flame the lighter fell onto burner.

Before she removed head from above burner.

    BuUUUUUUFFFFFF.

Lighter explodes and burns hair, slightly 😆 :rolls:

She was still shaking 3 days after. And coughing badly, so i recommended she visit A&E. :rolls:

Makes you wonder how some people survive the day.

    Re: Stuck bearings…

I`d price a replacement tub, if too expensive walk away.

If the race is that hard too remove, chances are the replacement bearing will fail or the seal will leak or more likely the new bearing won`t fit into the outer sheath.

Which is annoying after so many hours beating the crap out of it.

Did you do a Profit and Loss costing when you set up the business ?

Its usually a good idea as this will explain not only to a bank, but also to yourselve if the business is viable.

Your costs should cover your expenses and then a profit in which to be able to re invest and live on.

There is no point charging without knowing if your making money. After all its a 2 way relationship, your both get something out of it.

Pricing yourself in relation to your competition is one way to judge, having said that if the comp is an idiot charging little, why should a well qualified experienced tech do that.

You also don`t want to over price yourselve out of any calls. Initially you`ll need to build up a client base and get a good reputation, this does not come on price alone.

I always judge on my cost`s within the business plan, took an average of what i need to be profitable and always follow that, judge the call by the type of client etc, but don`t charge different prices too much, try to keep a balance.

    Re: Lok Ring

Any idea of web sites that sell brazing tools for us.

I used them a long time ago when we serviced R12 systems, but since R600 I`ve been employed by the big guns who only allow Lok ping.

I`ve never had issue with them, but mostly we`d scrape most system faults on 2nd visit for a replaced product. 😆

Now I`m in the real world 😥

I guess i need something more reliable and suited to my needs.

The internet has played and important part in this, just look how many clever (or not as the case may be!) Engineers are detailing how to repair products on the internet. Some to increase sales of parts maybe others, Who knows why.

I`d agree with that, the internet is great, but not for everything.

The amount of armchair experts out there since they got on line is becoming huge.

I once called to a Samsung american F/F which had the usual issues, b4 i asked what the problem was the guy was telling me how to repair it and the he had a print out of the fault codes, tech info to instal modification etc.

He only needed me because the lawyers needed a Suitable Qualified Engineer to confirm the unit is a piece of crap and the client has grounds to sue Samsung for selling a unit not fit to cool a carrot.

Like the Koreans give a four x, they`ve made billions selling crap.

The fan runs all the time until the stat reaches temp and stops the fan.

If fan is on constantly either there isn`t sufficent cooling in the freezer or the sensor is faulty.

The cover should rotate when the door is opened/closed but the complete evaporator cover which contain the motor isn`t interchangable between the old/new as they changed the wiring.

Otherwise the small motor is knackered.

Bought a similar on in an Esso garage for £3.99, it was sold with AA livery on it and one of the best pieces of kit in the box of tricks.

Although the OH tells me I look like a knob with it on. 😳
