    Re: Zanussi zwf 1440w

So, change in situation! Took the top off to have a “look” and as I was standing there deciding which bit to hit with the sledgehammer first I saw a whisp of smoke appearing from the middle of the electronic control unit. Switched off at dial and mains then when I switched it back on and tried testing for the error code the lights all lit up in sequence and I got E60 this time ( along with a “burning” smell from the control unit). Had a look at price of new unit – £110 and figured ( or my wife did! ) that repair time plus part – assuming thats all that is wrong – equals new machine time! So thanks to those who responded, or meant to respond, or who knew someone who was going to respond or who just read the post – sorry – it was all for nowt! See you again no doubt – but not too soon hopefully!! Nick

Hi captaincaveman1, thanks for your speedy reply! Did as you suggested and got E34 in display. Wife has also noticed the washer seems to be able to do the short ie 30 min wash ok but not much else without hiccups. She only uses this prog rarely as I had previously warned her about the poss of the washer getting “gummed” up inside. Nick

Hi Jim, sorry if I sounded as though I was under pressure from a nagging wife. But guess what – I was! She can’t envisage Christmas without a tumble dryer apparently. Maybe a new way of cooking a turkey? Anyway, while waiting for a reply I contacted firstly, Malin Service at Blantyre to discover the PCB alone is £147.17( inc Vat), secondly, a straight replacement same model dryer via Pricerunner is £254.99. Kinda speaks for itself I guess. Looks like we’re going shopping for a new machine! Thanks for your help and guidance – see you next time!

Help, is my deodorant not working or have I said something to offend? Even a reply to the effect that no-one knows the cause or you need more info would give me hope!

Hi, common sense got the better of me – a rare occurrence!! I accessed a technician via your site and eventually after a bit of communication problems – ie, he wouldn’t! – He arrived and replaced the dreaded “chinese” pump which was spouting water from the perished hose and had created a puddle in the tray in addition to dribbling over the various electrics. All is now well, the wife is content, my ears have stopped bleeding and the technician will be going to Jamaica for his holidays courtesy of my wallet. Oh well it was cheaper than a new appliance. My grateful thanks to those who gave advice and have a nice Christmas when it arrives. ( Anybody want a fairly new, hardly used, slightly leaking, very annoying piece of far eastern CRAP?? – its available in my bin! ) 😀 😆

Does my deodorant not work or have I said something inappropriate by mistake guys?? Wife is giving me RES – repetitive earache syndrome because I told her I would try to get help here before phoning engineer and so far I have had to fob her off with fictitious answers as to why I haven’t got a definitive reply. ( or as definitive as you can get without seeing the offending object! ) Any more help -please!!

    Re: Diplomat ADP8332 Dishwasher

Hi sorry for delay in reply! Left it alone for 4/5 days and tried it again last night and it seemed to work once after I held the start button for about 10 secs. Then it failed after that and now I get a constant “clicking” like a relay operating ( sounds like its in top right corner of front door panel )after about five minutes into the cycle – this is without the arms spinning. The fault panel flashes in conjunction with the “clicking” but it doesn’t indicate anything when I open door and I can’t see what its showing when it flashes due to position of the machine/door/worktop. Fault seems to be a moving target – any updates on potential causes would obviously be appreciated before I either start removing machine or getting on the phone!

Hi, got it sorted. While looking at a post from VFL07 ( Aug 31 3.53am ) re a Zanussi washer dryer with electrical probs Penguin45 suggested a dry joint as one possibility. In light of my original ( erroneous! ) thoughts about a cable break it made me have a look at the board and ” Bingo” there it was the little devil. All sorted now and wife pleased its working but disappointed she’s not getting a new machine!
    Many thanks Penguin45!!!

Re: Zanussi WJS 1665 W Washer/dryer electric controls

Hi me again, spent half an hour stripping down to the circuit board and found a little dry joint shorting away to itself. Another 10 mins cleaning and soldering and at the moment its working again. Here’s hoping thats it sorted! Big Thankyou to Penguin45 for putting the idea of the dry joint into my head. Might be worth a look yourself VLF07 if you feel up to it. The affected joint on my board was extreme right hand side – 2nd down from top, ( forgot to take note of its number before reassembly!! – sorry !)
I’ll put a rider onto my own original post to this effect just to close it off.

Hi, this is similair to the fault on my Zanussi condenser dryer ZDC 5350W which I posted sept 4th 8.17pm (and as yet had no replies to.)
I worked my way round all the progs on the dial and some worked once maybe twice but now they are all not playing at all. When any prog stops it goes blank then the timer reappears flashing along with the three lights for drying, cooling and end and the beeper sounding. Is this the same as yours?
Sorry if I appear to be hijacking your post but yours has been the only sign I’ve seen of a similair problem ( or solution!! )
