I have the top of the range CR01 memory and up to now (5 months) it’s fantastic. The wife loves it as it only takes 25 mins to do a 40 degree wash and with 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more washing in than normal too
Well that’s 1 of the 2, where’s the other one I wonder, and does that still work ❓

Sort of……..
I called last month to an old customer who kept all my invoices over the years. The first was dated May 1973 to fix her Hoovermatic 3174 (It was 10 years old then!……Well, I couldn’t believe it when she told me her washing machine had stopped ‘turning’ last month. When I called, it was the same 3174 with a seized Pulsator. Unbelievably I had a Pulsator & housing on my van…..Sorted !!
The machine still functions, it is now 40 years old and the little old lady….a spritely 96 !!!

I didn’t realise people actually bought them?Martin

Ken,
The funny thing is, I always carry a digital camera with me to capture any opportune moment. I think it is a great idea to share them with you here. Sadly I only have taken pictures of the very worst homes I have visited and NOT the machines I have fixed in them. You know what I mean, those houses where you not only have to wipe your feet on the way out but dash home and take a shower!
Been there, done that and even got the photo’s to proove it.
I will now take photo’s that will take pride of place in any Rogues Gallery, thats easy, I see them regularly! Tell me…how do I publish them on this site? Do I send them as an attachment to you via email or what?

I am smitten with yet more flashes of inspiration to save our industry 😉
“Let me see now!”……If I can arrange a meeting with James Dyson, John Bloom and Jeremy Clarkson the future is ours for the taking. ❗
Trust me I have cracked it 💡 ……..hold your breath a little while longer…. ❗

Just had a thought…..that throughout this site I do not see mention of DYSON WASHING MACHINES ❗
Has James Dyson created the ultimate washing machine ❓
Is it THE machine to stick in ones kitchen I wonder ❓

ParticipantRe: THE FUTURE????????
Historically we had “Work Providers” who were the foreign manufacturers setting up local agents in order to provide nationwide service coverage. Bosch, Neff, De Dietrich etc. started out that way very successfully. Using their example, they provided each ‘agent’ with a comprehensive stock of spares (free of charge) and the relevant training and service manuals….a complete package. Full support and full backup, a good call out rate and loads exclusive business out of warranty.
The future?………..oh! no sorry, you got me on that one…pass

Give Moben Kitchens a ring and get them to install a “Built-in ‘TECNIK’ Washing Machine” in your lovely “Designer Kitchen”… the epitome of the manufacturers art as it stands today.
We love rubbish in this country and with Tecnik we have got it ❗
Unless someone knows better ❓

ParticipantRe: Does anyone check wall sockets?
Loop Testers are great pieces of kit but the can cause a number of problems in using them per se, that is way beyond the scope of the average Domestic Appliance Engineers lot ❗
His (or her)directive is to fix an appliance/s and nothing more. However, and going back to the whole reason for me posting this topic in the first place, is to remind others to check the supply to that appliance before commencement of any work on it. Sticking your Martingdale in the socket tells you all YOU need to know to ensure YOUR safety and nothing more.
Ovens and other hard wired appliances ❓ then yes, the Loop Tester is a must. But make sure you can access the Fuseboard/Trip Switch before you hit the button ❗
If you locate a supply problem simply inform the customer AND above all, note your findings on the repair docket ❗
Be safe

kwatt wrote:Yeah if we’re all doing this, which we all should be, then why are we not telling the public about it? I find that a bit strange that it’s so heavily plugged to us but not made clear to customers that we do carry out testing etc. 😕
K.
It’s not really necessary to shout about what we do and how we do it to the customer, but should be something done automatically by every Service Engineer. I was taught over 39 years ago, the first thing you do is check the wall socket. The second, check the earth connection. The third, then take a look at the appliance.
I don’t need DASA’s Code of Practice to tell me what to do, I’ve been doing for years.

Their website shows a general overview of DASA Code of Practice but members sign their name to the DASA Quality Criteria Minimum Standards document!

Oh Dear!
It seems I once again have opened a can of worms with this subject. I am a little surprised though at some comments?
Now let me see … ah yes ❗ D.A.S.A Quality Criteria Section 3 Health & Safety: 3.1.1 to 3.1.14 (“Electrical Safety Tests”). ❗ A fundemental part of Field Service Engineers operating procedure I would hope?
Anyone out there suffering a guilty conscience at this point I wonder? 😳
