ParticipantRe: westinghouse oven 02-200 101 function switch
I would be surprised if this is a Smeg oven as Smeg stopped making Westinghouse branded cookers over 14 years ago

ParticipantRe: Expert Appliance Care
The thread makes interesting reading. While i can see many points regarding disposable products outweighing the value of repairs i dont think this will effect the higher end of the market – or at least i hope it doesnt.
As ive previously stated i have sympathy for the EAC engineers/staff but inevitably the refrigeration is now back with us (Servevast) – over the last few weeks we have looked at many possibilities. Employing engineers direct was an option but our experience over the years suggests this is not profitable or practical.
We have an existing network of engineers, many of them use this site. Some are still geared up to work on systems but some are not. We have contacted lots of “ex” EAC engineers – most seem keen to work with us as subcontractors. We intend to integrate them with our existing network where we have inadequate coverage on systems.
If there are any EAC engineers interested that we have not already been in touch with, please feel free to email Sue direct….. scherry@smeg-service.co.ukDean

ParticipantRe: Smeg A 42 driving me mad!!!
Its not a name im familiar with – not on the Smeg list but that doesnt mean they are not able to repair or even access info we have here. I will ask Tony to call them.

ParticipantRe: Smeg A 42 driving me mad!!!
I have further info from Tony. The switch is the most likely cause, 811730220 – this however could have blown, depending on the circumstances, the clock, 816290347 (this is in the process of being superseded) and the safety stat, 818730566 or 818730550 depending on serial no. As you can see this can be quite complicated so i reiterate my question regarding the engineers details.

ParticipantRe: Expert Appliance Care
From our point of view (servevast) I have nothing but sympathy for the staff and their families of EAC – We have worked with them over the last 3 years or so in handling the refrigeration for Smeg. Occasionally following their engineers in to awkward situations or difficult repair jobs. We agreed with Smeg that they were the right company at the time. The fire which destroyed our building, stock & network in May 02 meant a new direction for all of us.
However over the last year or so we have gradually been introducing refrigeration system repairs into our network of contracted engineers as well as ensuring our employed engineers have the necessary ability to work on fridges. This was nothing to do with EAC or their whispered troubles. It was purely due to other manufacturers and new branded suppliers checking out the UK market.
It may be that EAC are rescued and that the panic that seems to be in the air dissipates, nevertheless we are seriously considering our next step. At the moment refrigeration is definitely back on the agenda, whether it be one manufacturer or many others. If any engineers or engineering companies are interested they should contact our contracts manager scherry@smeg-service.co.uk

ParticipantRe: SMEG DISHWASHER MOD DWF66
The most likely problem is the solenoid (which is only available complete with the dispenser) – check continuity between dispenser and the pcb – failing this it could be the pcb itself. PM me for tech info with your email address if you need further assistance.

ParticipantRe: British Gas To Drop Appliance Servicing?
I know of at least one manufacturing service company that refuses to assist BG technically. On the parts front they receive the minimal discount too plus they have to pay upfront. However I can understand some companies helping them to a certain extent as in the end the customer has the name of the product and is only concerned that the manufacturer is to blame not BG.
