Hi Ollie
Did you manage to cure this?
I have similar problems with a Cannon with the same fault (see other post) and just wondered if you had sorted.
Thanks

Hi Martin – thanks for the reply
Didn;t want to bog the post down with to much info but here goes:
Right hand side seems to be hoter than left – most noticable when cooking pizza, cakes, large yorkshire pud or roast joint – she has to keep turning what ever she is cooking as one side browns noticably more than other side.
Fan has clockwise rotation – didn’t count the shelves but think there are two fitted but didnt ask how many were in use when cooking – didnt think about shelf position either as a problem but can see the posibility but shouldn’t be. She thinks the cooker is about 5 years old – had no problem when new – only the last 2 years.
Not sure if that helps?
Thanks

Thanks for the replies folks.
Don’t thik it is screws or loose panel but the front bearings seem a posibility.
Presunably you fitted new front bearings when you did a referb? so it was the new bearings giving the problem with a partialy dirty drum lip?
Will give this another try with cleaning the drum lip n remove drum shaft washers. This looked a fairley newish m/c as a teardrop bearing was fitted but no rear drum shaft washer. Would have thought this was a late enough m/c for H/Point to have started fitting the spacer washer – just wondered if they modified the later m/c so no washer was required? Any thoughts?
Think after this I might throw the towel in as its cost me more than enough in repeat calls.
Thanks again folks

Hi folks
Sorry this has been a bit on-going without a real conclusion.
Been back and lubricated seals with ptfe spray and added extra washer – thought I had cured but cust phoned back and still making same noise. Went back changed belt – thought I had cured again – cust just phoned and making same noise again.
Seems to only make noise on start up from cold and disapears when m/c warms up (or I take apart and put together 😕 ).
I have heard it and it is a rubbing vibrating noise which seems to be drum related and has only apeared since I fitted the new kit to cure the scrapping noise of the drum on the rear of m/c. Don’t think this is motor bearing as doesn’t seem harsh enough also would have thought the new belt would have made it worse as there was quite a difference in belt tension. Have checked for fan noise/vibration but metal fan fitted.
Other than changing all the seals/bearings again (which I don’t think will really achive anything as I would have thought ptfe lub would have sorted) I am at a bit of a loss on this one.
Could try removing the spacer washers altogether but not sure if that will achive anything either.
Open to any more suggestions apart from crap design ones which I already know.
Thanks
Mick

Thanks for the repies folks.
Can’t get back till Mon to re look at the job but made a note of the comments.
Gen kit fitted and one spacer washer fitted – don’t think it is motor bearings as when I twist or lift the front of machine with top off the vibration stops. Suspect it is rear felt seal and hotpoint skimping on felt lubricant.
Ordered up some ptfe spray so will go armed with that and extra washer for shaft. :rolls: Failing that will try belt change.
Thanks

Been back tried door interlock but door still locking, no start and dorr lock light flashing. Didn’t think it was door lock as it locked up and never yet had door lock faulty that locks but doesn’t feed out – but there is always a first timne.
Didn’t persue any further as they are thinking comercial machine now but still suspect PCB fault.
Thanks for the replys though.

ok – thanks Martin
Just wondered if there was a posibility of known door lock probs on the off chance.
Room had number of teenagers in trying to keep out of the rain made it a bit constrictive. Think next time will insist on clear room. Im just to soft – didn’t want to chuck them out into the rain.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint AQXXL129PIUK Auto – no display
Refitted display module yesterday – gave terminal connectons a little squeeze again just to make sure – all worked ok??
Swiched m/c on n off numerous times – opened n closed door numerous times and all worked ok!! Watched through rinse n spin cycle and restarted machine – all ok.
Unless it was bad connection on terminal block not sure what it is – just one on lifes little mysteries but will be on tender hooks for the next month waiting for the recall 😕
Thanks for the help and comments

Thanks for the reply Hotdog
Might be better if it was dead – at least I might come up with something positive. Because it is intermitant difficult to know where to go without component swaping – which could be expensive as I don’t have any spare display boards of other Hotpoints.
Was convinced was display board as got a supply to it but it has come back no fault found – so not sure if the board was in one of it’s working modes when it was tested or it is ok.
That why i wondered if anyone had intermitant faults on the display board or do they just pack up?
Going back to refit module today and see what happens.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Colin
Checked with three suppliers and looks like this is a special order with all three so would seem that the wiring is not a perticular problem on these machines plus means it is non returnable.
Anyone had to replace one before? Or had this intermitant problem with display?
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Zannusi TCE7276W Cond T/Dry – PCB Fault?
Hi folks
Went back to this a few days ago armed with diagnostics – put into diagnostics and found no recorded fault logged. Tried machine again and all up and running?
When I looked at this origonally there was a lot of gunk around the back by the heater which I cleared off. Just wondered if water been picked up by the fan and caused earth leakage an heater similar to Hotpoint cond driers?
Been having megger issues atm as old faithfull given up – so couldn’t test for earth leakage at the time. (How much we depend on meggers these days – its like loosing your right arm when one packs up)
It may be that it has had time to dry out but everything seemed to be working ok on second visit and couldn’t find any blockages but anyone had problems with damp heaters on these and would this cause these symptoms? If so any comman fault that would cause water to be picked up apart from gunk build up – pump working ok and water reaching container.
Not come accross water pick up issues on Zan cond driers before so just looking for pointers incase of similar fault or a recall on this.
Thanks

HeHe… this looks like this is turning into a whole new thread about eco balls..
Must admit to agreeing with Jim that I take them out if I suspect they are giving a problem – but leave them in if they don’t but never taken one out on a washer drier as I wasn’t sure if it might make a difference to the air flow on the drying cycle and so err on the side of caution.
How ever – If I do take one out for what ever reason I do hand them to the customer AND tell them why the manifacturer puts them there AND explain how it works AND why I have taken it out. I ALSO tell them to phone me back if they notice any reduction in the performance of their machine and if in anyway they feel unhappy with what I have done and I will come back and refit it free of charge.
Over the last 10 years, Out of the dozen or so I have taken out since manifacures have been fitting them NEVER had anyone phone me and ask me to refit the ball – still go to some of my customers and see the ball sitting on a window ledge or in a container as I have asked them to hang onto it just incase.
In my oppinion any benifit that they produce in soap saving is either nulified by the manafactures instruction book which fails to tell people that they are fitted and they can reduce the powder they put in. Also in the potential problems they can cause due to restricted access to the sump hose or trap that allows objects that get into the tub to exit quickly to save damage to tub or drum.
If they are so crutial to the opperation of the machine why is there no apparent dectectable reduction in the opperation or performance of the machine as far as the customer is conserned or I as an engineer have noticed?
I am not saying that we should all take out the eco balls willy nilly as like Martin says manifactures must fit them for a reason, but feel slightly slighted that those of us that have taken out the odd one or two do it without any thought or regard to the consequences.
But I am yet to be convinced that they play such an important roll in the opperation of most machines that some would suggest.

Ahhh… the money spinner little ball in the sump hose…
Keeps coins and objects in the plastic tub so they end up comming through the side or damage the drum causing clothing to rip… a write off job… keeps clothing in the tub so there is a fair chance it can jam up the back of the drum on a sealed tub where you can’t get to it and another write off job..
Traps long hair, and gunge causing intermitant drainage promblems so customer gets fed up and buys a new machine… pop’s out into drum causing lots of noise, customer thinks is drastic job – buys new machine…
I wonder why manifactures keep fitting them !!! 😮 …
If they are so good why don’t manifactures tell their customers about them in the instruction book and how much soap powder it is saving them or… when they are removed for what ever reason it never seems to make any difference to the opperation of the machine???
Just one of the little weapons in their armament these days to help grow the mountain of discarded washing machines in my opinion – or is it I’m just getting more synical and grumpy in my old age?
Eco friendly – a lot of old balls is what I say.. 😉
