ParticipantRe: Replace Drum Paddle On A Daewoo DWD -G1241S
Hi Folks
Got one of these to do tomorrow. Just trying to get a bit of heads up before I go. Was access to the screw through the sump hose or did you have to get the dispenser hose off?
Or if anyone else done one of these help gratefully received.
Done them on Hoovers where access is through the sump hose but not sure on this as not been yet.
Thanks
Mick.

Thanks for the reply Bob.
Yes – the drier is still heating. Hence I tried it with the Acrylics button operated thinking it might just run at half heat and tell me if it was an overheating problem. Not sure though if the Acrylics button works a temperature setting or switches out half the heater – should have got my ammeter out to check but as it didn’t make any difference I moved on to checking the heater and rear panel for blockages – all which were clear.

Thanks for the reply Grendal
Can’t believe a board can go from just switching the oven off and on from the mains!
What crap manufacturers turn out these days.

Thanks for the reply Martin
Looking a the instruction book for this model it suppose to display a key symbol if the child lock has been activated but all that is displayed is the program time.
I did send a text to the customer earlier after a search for this type of problem asking her to try the clock button as this was an alternate child lock activate/deactivate button on some models and was worth a try but not heard back whether successful or not.
Instructions state pause/start button is child activation/deactivation button.
Would have thought if delay time was set it would indicate some how in the display window.
Thanks

Hi folks
Went to this today fully expecting child lock reset. Went through child lock reset on every program and even did a fault code reset with the faint hope it might solve the fault all to no avail.
Machine displays all programs times etc but start button just keeps flashing (will beep but nothing else) but machine won’t lock door or start. No fault codes displaying.
Suspect a posible door lock fault but as is a solenoid type I didn’t have one to try or posible pcb.
Would it be anything other than door lock or main pcb? Machine only 3 years old.
Any pointers gratefully received.
Thanks

Hey guys
What’s happened to your sense of humour :con:
I didn’t want to open a political debate here – most countries are guilty of making crap machines and crap components these days – it’s a sign of the times we live in, where the fast buck and instant profit rule. Mostly it’s governed by peoples greed in trying to obtain as much as they can for as little as possible.
You can’t blame manufactures whatever their nationality for providing what people want. Cheap washing machines that look like they will perform wonders.
Trouble is that it doesn’t help us poor engineers that have to work on these machines – where ever they are made.
The only thing that can keep us sane is a sense of humour! If you read those instructions you can either disappear into the realms of despondency or smile to keep yourself from doing so and make light of it.
Come on folks – lighten up a bit.

Thanks Martin
Looks like it might be just a TOC then to protect the quality pump :rolls: .
Think Ascoll pumps come with an inbuilt TOC in the windings – looks like I will be returning the quality pump thats at risk of setting fire then :rotfl:
Thanks again

ParticipantRe: Indesit IDCE845A Cond. T/Drier – How does this work?
Thanks for the link Nick – did search it first but didn’t come up with that for some reason?
Following Martin’s youtube link it’s looks like this type of machine has been around for a couple of years now with Miele, Panasonic and Bosch to the fore front. Basically it’s a fridge unit evaporator and condenser all in one then :rolls:.
It would also explain my concerns in that it was slow to heat up and the customers complaints that it took ages to dry.
Still on the Indesit machines I don’t think we will have to worry about heating problems as they haven’t modified the rear bearing yet and looks like the drums haven’t got a replacible shaft on the back so that will probably only give them a 3-5 year life span with an unsprung jockey pulley!
Made me smile when I was watching one of the Panasonic video’s how they were praising it drying time of just under 2 hrs compared with the other like tumble driers – I have a 40 yr old Hoover that dries a full load in about 50 mins 😛
Still some body must have thought it was a good idea – they just don’t have to deal with the practicalities of repairing the thing 😯
Thanks for the reply

ParticipantRe: Indesit Plastic Drum Pulley part no.
On revist to this found this wasn’t a splined shaft it was a double flat shaft 😳 (could have sworn it was splined but couldn’t have taken it off but just felt the play) so the part number you gave me was the right one.
Think I must have had a senior moment then! Maybe it’s getting time to retire!
Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply Jim
Think that part no is C00270717 ?
Think I found that one when I was searching under “Indesit Drum Pulley” on spares sites. Looking at picture it fits a double flat round drum shaft where as the the drum shaft fitted is a splined shaft.
Might put this on the tech. forum see if there is any of the Hotpoint guys come across this.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Indesit bought a batch of these drum assemblies cheap then the manufacturer went bump after they drove the price down – hence no spares listed for it.
Pulley had come loose and worn the pulley hole – just wanted to replace pulley incase it came loose again. Looks like it might be a Locktight and big hammer job!
Thanks again

Thanks guys – will give her a quick ring in the morning and get her to do that before she calls Bosch. Presume it will reset without setting to the original program and the lock light flashing on all programs? Will let you know how I get on. It was the zero light that was throwing me.

Did think about that but there is no clock button and the key symbol doesn’t stop flashing which ever program you put it to. Also in my experiance whenever the child lock was activated the program time remained on screen not changed to zero.
Off course it could have been changed by Bosch to display zero now so you know the child lock is on :rolls: but as I said the customer couldn’t find the instruction book for me to confirm :rolls: :rolls: . Did download one from the Bosch site but was next to useless as only showed one page and that was nothing model specific.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWM8163 FH fault
Hi folks – just thought I would finish this thread off.
Thanks for all the info Colin, Went back armed with all that but to no avail. Managed to get it working on a low fill wash but as soon as it went to a second level it came up with FH.
Tested resistance of flow meter which looked like a short circuit as it was reading zero on my meter. Also managed to test back at the module after disconnecting and got the same so wiring continuity is ok. Problem is I was not sure what the resistance should have been as there was no mention of it in the info. Short circuit seemed a bit suspect though and the possibility it may have taken something in the module?
Still suspected the flow meter but only way to prove was to change it but customer wouldn’t go to the expense if I couldn’t guarantee that that was just the problem. As we all know these days “it’s never over till the fat lady sings” so it was the case of “another one bites the dust”,
Thanks for all the help Colin.
