No do not want an ISE thankyou.
Just to reiterate, what model(s) of Bosch or Miele are good to get. Is Zanussi worth considering ?
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Replacing Hotpoint bearings
Hi again
well i looked last night and as i thought could see nothing obvious, i did however find a black plastic cover on the floor under the machine, i couldnt work out where it should go, but it did look as if it were to cover the motor.
It still squeaks very annoyingly when washing, however its quiet on a spin.
I told her to buy a new one, there was a second hand miele machine in our local free ads this week for £120. So a repair is not an option.
Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, i bought a very cheap washing machine a Candy infact from a wholesaler about 5 years ago now and touch wood, the machine has been brilliant, coped with overloading, use every day, trainers, horse blankets etc. So not everything cheap is rubbish. and the cycle times are not horrendusly long either.
Thanks for all your help guys, this site is brilliant, keep up the good work

ParticipantRe: Replacing Hotpoint bearings
OK just found out that it is a WMT03. So is this a doddle or a swine ? If its a doddle ill have a look at it, if its a swine ill tell her to get a new one

ParticipantRe: What FF do you recomend ?
Well i was told by the Hotpoint engineer that came out to repair the machine that he had been told that moisture was tracking up from the plug end of the thermistor assembly.
He also told me that Hotpoint had tried to resolve the problem by adding a blob of glue at the thermistor end of the lead, unfortunately, this is nice and flexible at room temp, but at -26 degrees it tends to go quite hard and doesnt seal so well.Incidently how do other manufacturers mount their thermistors ? Have Hotpoint just been really bad at design here ?

ParticipantRe: What FF do you recomend ?
Dear Hotpnt
Its the Mistral range of frost free. Its had constant thermistor replacments since new. Its noisy and now the display constantly displays E2 and tyhe machine runs for about 20 hours constantly a day. The freezer freezes everything totally solid. Icecream has to be left out for 30 mins before it can be scooped.
Even with a total defrost (ironic as its a frost free ) the machine ices up within a week, then the cold air circulation fan gets noisy as ice forms round it.
Im totally disapointed in Hotpoints lack of modification in thermistor design. Its a design problem, as moisture tracks up the inside of the wiring insulation via capilary action, then shorts out the thermistor, causing the various faults.
Im really peed off with this and never want to own another hotpoint fridge freezer. Its a shame really as their iced diamond range were brilliant, my mum and dad had one for 20 years and its still running, never had a problem.
Ok rant over. ill look at the Bosch, but have read on here that there have been probs with them too, are they ironed out now ?
Or would i be better to get a non frost free model ?Mike Burton

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Mistral Plus FF compressor running constantly
Hi everyone
the model number of the item is Hotpoint Mistral FF92P
the serial number of the unit appears to be either 95181570 or 85181570
To confirm: the display displays temperatures all over the range between -22 and +37. But opening the fridge door will make the display change instantly back to -22.
Could this be a faulty control board PCB ?

Hi Dave and everyone else
thanks for the speedy response, im at work at the moment so ill post the serial number on here later tonight.
Just noticed after reading a few posts about this model that mine will also revert back to the correct display if you open the fridge door then close it again. So makes me think its more a PCB problem than a thermistor problem. Fingers crossed anyway.
Cheers

ParticipantHotpoint – Mistral FF92 Intermittent display fault
Hi Everyone
I Bought this unreliable unit in 2002 and have just replaced the thermistor P/N 2601683. Its the second on its had fitted. The reason i replaced it is that the display reverts from the usual -22 to +37 and anywhere in between. Unfortunately the fault still intermittently exists. Sometimes switching the whole appliance off and then on again can make the display revert back to displaying -22.
So can anyone tell me if there is a control PCB, where it might be located, the part number and possible price. Im loathed to get a new fridge freezer even though this one has been extremlely bad value for money. I shall certainly never got a Hotpoint one again.
Im an electronic engineer so changing a PCB wont hold any probs for me if you were wondering. Oh before you ask, yes , i have hoovered out the front of the unit and there was hardly any fluff in it.
Any help with this will be gratefully recieved as im getting extremely p****d off with it.
Cheers
Mike
