Hi
It’s an S7260 and the hose is splitting spirally near the handle. Can’t upload photos as I keep getting a message saying that the file is too big.

ParticipantRe: Miele Prestige plus not draining/sudsy spin
Hi everyone
I have finally fixed this issue with the machine (W562) prestige plus.
If you have this issue with this model of Miele try the following:Unplug from mains, disconnect water and drain. Get a quality set of Torx drivers to hand. Remove top cover, remove prog selector knob, remove soap drawer. Very carefully use a blunt object to push the clear facia downward and outwards, this will then come out easily. Do not try to lever it out from the side or you will damage it. Remove 2x Torx screws from controller. You might at this point think that you need to remove the connectors from the controller – DONT. Unscrew plastic facia, lift plastic tabs and free from machine, the controller can be fed through the facia and rested on top of machine.
Remove steel band securing door seal. Remove 2x screws from front panel top. Remove 2x Torx from bottom of front & large screw from under drum aperture. The front can now come away, try to hinge it open from the right as you will need to disconnect a plug from the door lock and slide the front to the right to clear a plastic clip holding the door lock.
Remove all Torx screws holding left hand side panel and remove panel.
Now your ready to clear the issue.
Remove drain pipe, pull off hoses from the white Assembly screwed to the back of the cabinet. Push the drum over and remove this assembly. This will be full of sludge, take outside or into the shower and backfill and shake until no more muck comes out of it, mine took numerous back fills and shaking to get the rubbish out. I. Thought it was paper tissues, but i think it’s just congealed soap. Remove the small thin hose that goes from this to a ‘Y’ connector and clean, remove the long hose that goes from ‘Y’ connector to drain pump and clean. Mine was blocked solid. I couldn’t blow down it. It was jammed with pet hair, grass, elastic bands all in various states of rot. Remove rubber assembly that goes from soap drawer to drum and clean that too – it will be grotty. There is no need to remove the rubber assembly from the bottom of the drum, mine was totally clear. Reassemble is just a reversal of the above. The machine is a dream to work on, all I needed was Torx drivers and a plumbers wrench(?) to compress some clips over hoses on the pump.
The machine now works like a brand new machine, clothes are rinsed properly, all the water is pumped out, the spin happens as it should and clothes come out of the drum almost bone dry.
Don’t be scared to try doing this yourself, just go slowly, take lots of pictures for reference and don’t rush.
Above all make sure the machine is unplugged, take the fuse out of the plug and put it In your pocket to be certain that it can’t be accidentally plugged back in by someone else.
Hope this has helped someone.
Cheers
Mike

Hi all
Well I had another look at the dryer and I can confirm that there is nothing wring with the pump. As I was monitoring it on a drying cycle the pump was cutting in and out and pumping as it should and lo and behold a pool of water started appearing.
I stood the dryer up on some blocks and could see that the water was coming from under the machine. On pulling the condenser out and lifting the plastic flap I could see that the condensed water has to flow through a small opening into the sump. This was blocked with a small but of fluff. Very difficult to see, but once cleared it all worked perfectly with no more pools of water on the floor.
Thanks very much for all your help with this guys.

Hi Mike
No the ‘container full’ light doesnt come on. It just fails to pump and water ends up all over the floor.

Hi Mike
I did indeed take the condensor out and lifted the plastic flap and cleaned out under there too. It really wasnt that silted up, mind you its the second time i have had to check it in 5 years, the previous time i just kept getting the light coming on telling me to empty the water container.
So this is a different fault. One thought i did have was what i will refer to as ‘green spot’ it happens a lot in electronic fault finding in wound components (coils, transformers, chokes etc) Its where the emamel coating on the winding wire fails and the copper wire then oxidises and the wire breaks. Almost always this will happen when a piece of equipment is stored in a damp environment.
Well thinking about it, the motor is mounted above a tank of water, the machine lives in the garage and for certain months of the year it sits there not getting any use, so i wonder if the damp, the hot and cold cycling and months of no use have had an adverse effect on the motor winding.
The motor terminals are probably soldered with the dreadful lead free solder, which is notorious for going dry jointed. So ill check them too.
Im sure its all academic and ill find noting amis and a new part will cure the fault entirely.
Cheers

Hi Martin
Thanks for the like, thats exactly the assembly i would need to buy. Glad it all comes as a complete assembly with the water level sensor too.
Ill probably end up buying the part, but im still interested as to what is worn on the motor to stop it pumping.
Cheers

Hi Martin
5 years and the pump needs replacing? Seems a bit poor for Bosch. This machine is only ever used for 3 or 4 loads a week max and usually only in spring, autumn and winter.
I think what i will do is take the side off the machine again and watch it to see where the water is coming from and see if voltage is being applied to the pump when it ought to be pumping (calm down H&S freaks – im an electronic engineer). If i were to need a new pump or water lever sensor assembly, could anyone tell me the part numbers i would need and where i might even get the parts.
Many thanks

Hi Thanks for the replys. Ive contacted Liebherr and they are going to introduce the amarican style side by side in oct/nov into the UK.
I think we will go for something £1k+ as we dont want to be replacing it in 5 years time due to poorly made components.
I think Miele make one but the cost of that is way above my budget.mikeyman76

Just look on here – hardly anyone posting question on Miele washing machines. So obviously more reliable than the rest.
They also have stainless steel tubs and cast iron weights, not lumps of concrete. There are vids on youtube of people restoring 30 year old miele machines with nothing more needed than a set of bearings.
You pays your money and make your choice.
I know ISE are promoted heavily on here, but ive yet to see one in this area of the country. I know they are well made. But i know id rather bet on Miele being about in 20 years .

Buy a Miele prestiege plus.
You wont need another machine for another 20 years. enameled case so no rust, made in germany and quality reputation.
Some of the more pricey miele machines are offerering a 10 year gaurantee at the moment !!!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FFP187B power turning on and off
Hi All
All a relay does is use a small current to switch a larger current (usually), so if its clicking on and off, what is it supplying current to ? Is the item drawing excessive current and some other feedback loop is switching the relay off to stop excessive current being drawn and damaging another component. If its supplying power to a compessor maybe this is faulty.
If its supplying power to a heater (if its frost free) is this or its connector short circuit ?Someone has already spotted the problem though – its a Hotpoint owned by indersh*t.
I had a mistral and after getting shafted by having to pay a call out fee for a noddy to come out and only do what his laptop told him to do and not even have a clue how the appliance worked i now wont touch the stuff and advise everyone i know who is thinking of buying any domestic appliance to stay well away from hotpoint and indersit. Incidently i had huge problems with the mistral , caused by useless thermocouples and poor connectors and shoddy assembly. Hotpoint engineers didnt stop to think that hot melt glue goes brittle at -20 in a freezer and shrinks a bit, thus alowing moisture to track down the thermocouple leads via capilary action and effectivly short them out, et voila a freezer that either runs continously or not at all. neat huh ! To coin one of their own tag lines from the early 80’s “thankyou Hotpoint”.
