The recall is only for models produced with ‘ITW ZV-449’ PTC interlocks.

The WMFUG842P models have been manufactured with several different interlocks including both impulse types and the affected type of PTC lock. As far as I can tell the graphite WMFUG842G version is exclusively fitted with an impulse lock which is not part of the recall.

Yes, the temperature strip showing the binary error code will be solid.

If it flashes again the error code displays on the vertical stack of termperature leds.

I meter the capacitor when I am servicing a dryer. If they read over 1mfd low then I change it.

One of the new ‘windy’ modules. Sorry, I have none of these available to try.

If machine does everything apart from motor action I would check pressure sensor (unlikely), motor and tacho circuit at the module plug. Other than that I can’t think of anything but a module problem.

Do you have machine comercial code + serial number. and codes from the label on the module box?

Just do workshop jobs for the local trade (or whats left of it!) Like fixing BER stuff at component level if within my skill set.

Not too driven by money so quite happy to put hours in for peanuts if I can keep it away from the scrap yard.

Have done hundreds of sealed tank bearing jobs & simple module repairs on rental Merloni/Beko washers & dryers in the last few years.

    Possibly Dave,

It is hard enough to work out which settings file is correct for single phase machines. Three phase are a pain as there is a main processor with it’s firmware library talking to a second DSP processor running its own motor driving firmware.

A mismatching DSP version due to a board change can cause no motor action problems (often with no error flagged).

It’s complicated and often impossible (without trial & error) to work out which settings software is designed to run on a particular FW1 & FW2/DSP combination. Then add the variations in motor pulley size, Solenoid, PTC or Hybrid door lock types etc and it gets very confusing.

I usually dump the software settings file from the old module and program a used/new module which has matching FW1 & FW2.

Do you know if the module has been swapped or is it the original one repaired?

Have had linear pressure sensor cause ‘just pumping without motor action’ on spin programs in the past.

Sounds like duff contacts in the interlock. You don’t normally hear the buzz as the dryer motor starts up.

Power is across 3+4 when the start button pressed. The door interlock buzzes as the solenoid moves to the latched position and the switch closes (4-5) starting the dryer.

If the interlock switch contacts fail then you can hear the relay buzz while the start button is held in diminishing to a purr over a second or so.

More heat in the joints when wrapped up in a jelly jacket.

There are several versions, some have the 3ph motor control and power electronics on a separate module from the user control panel. The separate PCB is usually fitted in a plastic box under the lid (opposite side to dispenser)

This type of board is potted and often develops dry joints on the motor control IC.
