    Update:

    Turned out to be a faulty “new” capacitor…
    Replaced and now it’s running fine!

    Thanks for that info Richard, a customer gave this to me to sell for him…
    I know it dates from the 1950’s and that’s about it…pity it was not totally original, it is gold in colour and not bronze…

    Update:

    Tacho arrived this morning, fitted to machine and it runs like a dream again..

    Lady owner very happy she didn’t have to part with her lovely zanussi!

    Ok managed to get module out… Previous engineer had superglued it in as it was rattling !
    All looks ok, but noticed that the tacho coil was loose, took it out and all the insides have been worn right down and exposed the copper coil… I guess being loose it has been chewed up by the magnet?

    Are these available as a spare?

    Machine now does spin for around 5 seconds, at a time

    With belt off, drum is not overly tight… Motor doesn’t seem to have a lot of torque in tho !

    Is this timer easy to fit.. Looks like a load of cogs in front of the timer shaft!

    Well, finally changed the brushes, which weren’t that bad, but decided to try them anyway
