    Re: Public Liability Insurance

That could be quite good if a group insurance could be looked into, I know times a bit short for me as mine runs out at the end of May and I don’t suppose anything can be sorted by then. But mines only £63 per year so I can’t grumble too much.

Can I throw a comment in here ??

Where does your waste go ??, does it have it’s own waste pipe with it’s own trap, or does it plumb into the base of your kitchen sink ??

Re: Getting the belt on the tension pulley – Hpt condenser d

I’m the luck one with tiny hands 😀

Don’t ever have a problem, with WMA’s Where possible I lean the machine forward giving a bit more room and can get my arm up and hold the belt as I turn it on (ooo errr misses) the belt that is.

As for the Condensor dryers if i’m thinking of the same range as you, I generally find it easier to strip them right down including the drum, it takes 40-50 mins and hoover them out at the same time, take off the fan covers and remove all the spare bounce sheets that are wrapped round the inside of the fan (which keep blowing the cutouts).

Customers always seem happy to pay £48 for having a bew belt when they see how much work goes in.

I have got one to do this morning 😀

Re: Cost of dealing with the public

    Many Thanks all.

I will wait and see if i get a reply to my letter and a copy of the invoice.

I sent it recorded delivery so I can prove my request was sent.

I know it’s unlikly she will be able to pursue such an action, but to be honest I could do without the hassle, got more than enough going on, which I might yet post about.

    Thanks again

Re: Cost of dealing with the public

I have writen back to her with the following statment only.

“Please forward me a copy of the indesit invoice to allow me to validate your claims”

This will proove if she is trying to pull a fast one.

If she can’t provide this invoice then it will prove she is in fact lying, if she does and the details do not match her claims, then she will have as good as shot herself in the foot.

It’s down to her to prove the claim is valid, I’ve got half a mind to get on the phone to trading standards and advise them a thing or two.

I know legally she does not have a leg to stand on, but it’s the hassle that goes with it.

Re: Sale of goods and services act meets possibly mad custom

Acording to the act, by agreeing to repair the machine, I had entered into a contract, all beit a verble one.

And as I did not repair it as quick as she wanted on the Saturday that I said I would try to do it if I had enough time. (but did not promise or state that I would definatly attend), she thinks I was in breach of the contract, and as such can have the act thrown at me.

Which could mean that if she was successfull in court, I could be faced with her Landerette bill, time off work while she was doing her washing at the launderette etc.. all out of pocket expenses caused by the direct result of her not getting her machine repaired.

    Unlikly but all possible.

Scary thought don’t you all think.

Re: Sale of goods and services act meets possibly mad custom

    Hi All

Nope, No money had changed hands, So as no “sale of goods or services” actually took place, i’m not sure she could procceed with any action even if she was justified.

I’ve not heard any more as yet, but she may not have got my letter till today.

Well That got more response than I imagined.

In response to the first replies (before it went off track somewhat)
Yes full time buisness, I have always charged the same prices and I spose that’s why the customers are generally happy.

I spose I’m more worried about keeping them coming back than being rich, but I think it’s time I started to charge more.

I love em, there was also a local man that used to sell drum spiders for £15 each or 5 for £50, He’s stopped selling them now though 😥

I don’t find I have to change the spiders that often and it’s a good way to earn £100 for 2 hours work.

    Thanks Dave

There’s only half the sticker left, the bright sparks have put the label right inside the grill and it’s semi cremated, all thats left is the model number stated and the gas bar rating, nothing else left 😥

Re: Whirlpool Dishwasher Impeller (askoll Wash Pump) Madness

Just had a look as to the reason behind it failing, and I think there is something VERY WRONG with the manufacturing of this impeller.

The tab that alows the initial free spin if located in the wrong place, and as such is only leaving about 0.5 mm for the tab to hit and thus turn the impeller, for a pump that is designed to push so much water round, this is totally inadequate and must be borderline to being a deliberate fault.

Anyway, One carfully located dowel fixed through the impeller into the remaining half of the tag and the pump is working again with the correct amount of free spin and 400{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} stronger than before.

The customer was not interested in having a new pump, and I only got the job because I said i’d do a free call out on it, So I was not in for getting a bean for stripping it down.

I advised the Customer what I was going to do and that other than a new pump it was the only solution open to him.

All fitted and working, with a well happy customer and a cheque for £45, and more importantly, A little knowledge for future reference (like when my own one breaks)

Re: Whirlpool Dishwasher Impeller (askoll Wash Pump) Madness

The customer said he had already contacted someone who quoted him that price for the pump.

That is just criminal, These are going to be dying all over the place. it’s the smallest little shaft stuffed in to a nice big imeller thats gotta do a shed load of work.

How it ever got off a test bench defies me.

Oh well, The customer has already said he doesn’t want to spend a fortune on it, I might go in to production of mag pump impellers as I see a sudden influx in their demand on the cards.

    Thanks Dave
