ParticipantRe: Bloody LG WD1041WFH machine :o(
Pumps are the only problem i’ve ever seen on these, i’ve never had a pump do this, it’s not the machines fault the new pump was naff.
I think generally the quality of them is pretty good.
I’m thinking about throwing it back at the suplier and tell him he owes me a PCB, Not sure if i’ll get anywhere though.
I’m hoping it’s just the pump supply triac on the board gone short circuit, I’m gonna look at it tomorrow.

Connections say it’s the same as the A1435UK one but only show their own part number (5031689794480) which is different to the part number they show for the indesit part number above.
I know they are probably no different and shouldn’t pokey my nose in, but I was bored 😳

ParticipantRe: Part P again
Hi
Thanks for replying, I was going to post a follow up anyhow.
It’s bloody ridiculas what is required, After you have paid your 800 +vat for the Ppart training, you then have to register with one of the 5 registration companys as you have mentioned in your post.
I looked at one of these companys and for them to accept your application, you have to be employed for 12 months in the electrical instalation sector prior to your application, and be in a position for them to visit you on site to inspect your work, and then throw a load of highly technical questions at you, then take a further £350 off you for their trouble. which they then want every year.
I have come to the conclusion that the P-Part training courses advertising is very misleading, it implys that someone with no previous qualifications and little or no experiance can get their part P registration after completing thier courses, this in fact is far from the truth.
I would consider myself reasonably versed in electrical instalation and am more than capable of rewiring a house to current building regulations including all earth bonding and can test , and then prove all my calculations.
But I would be unlikly to be able to complete the registration even though I know without a doubt I could pass the part p training course due to the lesser mentioned registration.
I will be ringing around some of the training course providers after the holidays to see what they have to say about it. I would still like to do it and have it under my belt so to speak,
I will let you all know what the real situation is as soon as I know

I paid £130 last year but I think that also included a registration fee.
of £20 or £30 I’m sure it will say somewhere on the site about the costs.
You ring them up and they send someone round to see you and sign you up there and then, they give you a temporary password to access the site and you have the legal insurance from then on.
You have to set up a direct debit for them to take the subscription , but that’s it done, They also send you details of local meetings regarding local buisness issues, there’s one shortly moaning about the road and transport issues in my area, that the minister of transport is attending.
All good stuff, and they make themselves heard by the people that matter.

I’m a member of the FSB and the free banking is done through the Co-Op bank, so you have limited places to pay in.
Other than that they get you a few discounts on other stuff like van hire and finance etc.. and a monthly news letter letting you know of new legislation that’s in the pipeline.
The best thing is the legal insurance which is basicly what the whole scheme seems based around, it’s included in your membership fee and covers everything from tax investigations to personal legal problems.
In addition they have the legal advice line, where you call them and they take your number and give you a referance number and a lawyer or advisor calls you back within the hour, so you don’t have to pay to talk to them.
I joined after the Mrs Miles incident had started so they couldn’t assist with that, but I know that if ever I have problems again they will deal with it on my behalf.
Hope this is of some use to someone.

ParticipantRe: Electruepart
Although i’m not doing a great deal in the way of repairs and ordering at the moment I am still selling plenty of stock through other means and generally find Maddocks the cheapest for the limited stocks they have.
However, I got a phonecall from someone called Fran at Connect who asked why I hadn’t ordered anything from them for a while and if there was a problem. I simply said that your prices are not competitive, and that I had been promised that the I would have a discount put on my account after I complained (when the connections lottery post was first made) that the prices I was being charged were alot higher than many other traders were quoting they were being charged.
She asked who I was buying from and what were my most common items, I get through loads of hotpoint patten bearings and usually order 30-40 sets at a time from madock are £2.26 ish, I told her that I needed those and am only paying 2.26 and she said she’d do them for £2.20 for the BRG929 (my normal price is £2.75)
I Also get through the large Zanussi ones, which they normally sell for £5.99 (BRG942260) Maddock again do them for under £5, she dropped the price to £4.80.
As much as the online ordering is great and easy, if you have the time to sit and talk on the phone to your rep or the sales staff and not rip the ass out of it, but quote the prices you are paying to the likes of Maddocks etc.. I’m sure they’ll drop too.
By dropping the price on those 2 items they got a £400 order out of me that week, if they hadn’t. Maddocks would have got it.
I do think that they should have a set scale of rates though as it seems no one is being charged the same for anything.

ParticipantRe: Part P again :o)
I’ve seen the course for around £900 so it’s not that bad, and then I’ve got it for the future and can then legaly do instalations and other bits and pieces, as with the rules the way they are most Company employed electricions that used to do private work are now not legally allowed as they are not individully part P.
I know of one that’s about to be taken to court by the council for doing private work even though he was allowed to do the work through his firm
I could just do the re-wire myself under building notice and pay the £117.50 for the council to check my figures.

ParticipantRe: yell.com
Hi Funky
I have an enhanced advert with web link on Yell.com and have found it to be the single biggest waste of money I have spent. When I took the advert out, the sales girl promised this that and the other, but I can count on my thumbs the amount of monthly hit’s I get as a result of the web link and yell.com. I use Stat counter so I can clearly see where they came from.
I normally ask customers where they get my number from to get an idea of what’s working as far as advertising goes this is stored on the PC when the call is booked.
For me it was a total waste of money hench my apprehension about giving them a further £25 for what I believe to be no use to me, but that doesn’t mean that will be the case for you all.

ParticipantRe: Ariston AS100 no water running in machine
Sounds as if the wash pump is not running, once its filled, can you hear a buzzing noise ??
It may just be as simple as something caught in the pump stopping it turn, or more seriously a faulty capacitor or pump.
You would be better off getting an engineer in to check which it is, check the repairs@ section on the left, or post your postcode or town and an engineer locally will be able to help.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint wdm73a door leak
First thing to do is check that the door is OK and not damaged and the hinge is not loose or bent.
Then ensure that there is not limescale build up on the door glass as this will cause a leak.
Was it a genuine door seal or a patten one, what was the part number of the one fitted, we can then check you have fitted the correct part.
There is not really any adjustment you can make to the door, if you have clean glass, a genuine doorseal and no bent or damaged door parts then it won’t leak.
Hope this helps

ParticipantRe: Sale of goods and services act meets possibly mad custom
WOOOOO HOOOOOO,
Justice Prevails !!!!
I’m at this point looking at my new best friend, Mr Pinta Stella…
The case was dismissed on several grounds, a few are listed below.
1) Miles terminated contract by calling second engineer with out giving me reasonable time to repair.
2) Miles was attempting to claim for parts and labour needed prior to my initial visit.
3) Based on the independent evidence provided Martin and Iadom (thaks guys 😀 ) The judge could clearly see that the module was of no use when ordering a new one, and it not being in the machine should not have stopped an engineer from ordering a new one. He said that based on the infomation provided that it was quite possible that the second engineer was not suitibly qualified to repair the machine.
4) Miles “did not know” if the days wages she was claiming for was before or after tax, and when asked what tax band she was in, didn’t know that either. so dismissed the letter from her employer as insufficant evidence of her loss of wages.
5) It was unreasonable to expect that a part ordered from a wholesaler after 4 PM on a Friday would be delivered in time to be fitted on the Saturday.
6) The fact that I attended her home on my initial visit within an hour of her calling up at 3PM added to my case. As did not charging her for the initial service call.
7) She had trouble remembering dates and times, and contradicted herself, and also had trouble finding her evidence, and it got to the point that I ended up giving the judge copies of her evidence that I was sent.
Plus more things that I could go on all night about.Important things to remember if ever you visit a Mrs Miles are:
Keep Notes of times and dates
Keep all paperwork.
Make sure your 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct in your diagnossis
Don’t charge a callout charge
or better still, just don’t accept the repair. Thanks for all the support you’ve given me over it all.
