Not annoying this one but certainly made me laugh. Took the lid off a washer last week and the customer points to the concrete block and asks “Is that limescale?”. You couldn’t make it up!

“So do you repair washing machines then?” asks the wife as I am laid under her washing machine dismantling the pump! Even her husband was embarassed by that one!

    Re: Hotpoint CTD00

The pump was actually replaced beginning of the year so wouldn’t be expecting any problems there but then again it’s Hotpoint. I found one reference online to a modified cover plate yet the parts illustration I have seems to show an identical item to that already fitted, ie no hole or pad. Think I’ll wait to see if there is any reoccurrence!

    Re: Possible PCB Repair?

For the hell of it I have fitted one of the new relays to the board and I get no motor action at all now and light 4 flashing instead indicating motor tiac fault, looking at the PCB the 5th leg was attached to something. Dave’s pdf seems to suggest there should still be 5 pins on the new relay. All I can do is go back to RS and see what they say. Good fun this component lark!

Ok Been in touch with RS and they say that whilst the delivery charge is shown on the invoice it wasn’t actually charged, minimum order on this item is 5.

But…………new relays have arrived and they have only 4 pins, orginal has 5. That can’t be right can it?!!

    Re: Possible PCB Repair?

    Cheers, guys.

Struggling a little as I don’t seem to be able to find an exact match. RS suggest part 683 9160 (G5LE instead of G5LB) but then ask me if I think it’s suitable and I haven’t the foggiest! Also minimum quantity is 5!

    Thoughts anyone?

    Re: Possible PCB Repair?

    I wondered!
Leads me to a white component marked OMRON G5LB-1-25. Soldering seems ok so must be worth a go, is this the sort of thing Maplin sells?

Further question! Does this machine have an enclosed base or is everything easily accessible?
