Re: Fisher and Paykel fill valve turning on/off

There’s no publically available tech info on these I’m afraid – it’s all mostly in our heads!

The motor position sensor is mounted underneath, on the motor casing and can be identified by three wires running to it.

If you’re really not sure, please get pro help – power off if you are going to investigate further.

You’re in another test mode whereby you can run individual components. Have a read of this thread:

    Seems to show similar faults.

Re: Hotpoint first edition 800 help please

If the valves are humming, the solenoids are activating and water should flow. The Eton type valves can although it’s quite rare, open and only allow water to trickle through. Worth checking to see if the actual taps are opening properly – the blue and red tags wear internally and don’t allow the taps to be opened fully.

OK, valve seems a good bet – 161186, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get one moving for you. Ideally you should check the coils for a circuit first, otherwise it’s just an educated guess.

    Power off, of course.

Re: Hotpoint first edition 800 help please

Bit tricky without the model number……..

Still – older Hotpoints will stop if the motor is not running. They will stop if the water doesn’t go at a spin position. And it will stop if it’s waiting for water.

So, model number please 😀 .

    Re: Bosch SGS3042GB/01 PROBLEM

This is usually caused by a partial blockage in the the transfer pipe from the fill matrix to the sump, causing water to back up in the level control and the machine to underfill.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, please click the link below for pro help – it’s a simple and relatively inexpensive job. If investigating further, power off please.

    Re: ADP8132 – Door won’t lock/Lights flashing continually

The door latch is what is called a “turnover mechanism”. The latch part should turn over when the dor is closed. If you can see two “prongs” looking at you when you peer into the opening at the top of the door, the latch mechanism has probably failed. If you can only see a strip of plastic pointing up, the lock is in the engaged position and need pulling down to reset. The position of the striker on the body of the machine will need to be checked for full engagement if this latter is the case.

Check that first, then we’ll deal with the lights……….

Naah, saw it – fair enough for retail, not much use to us really. If he really wants to plug it, get him to sponsor a public forum. I’m sure a certain Scot will relieve him of his cash with alacrity 😀 !

Carbon brush drive motor – brushes most likely worn out. You’ll probably need these:

Absolutely true – I’d rather we didn’t – but what do we do? We fix things for people. Given the sites growing reputation, who knows? SMEG might even read this thread and say “Ay, da mad Pingwin’s right!”.

    Well, maybe 🙂 .
