I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – deep socket with extension bar, run the belt down, depress the extension, run the belt onto the shaft, remove socket, run the belt back onto the grooves. No expense, you’ve got this stuff in your tool boxes already.

    Easy peasy.

    Chris.

Presumably the start capacitor has blown, which is cheap and fixable, or the motor itself has gone, in which case a trip to the tip is the only economic option.

Either way, the dryer has to be demolished to access the motor assembly, so time for a bit of pro help.

Check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW repairer in your area. If you are feeling brave, please ensure the plug is pulled before working on the machine.

If it is getting partly warm, you’re looking at a thermostat failure. Dave’ll be able to advise about replacement part and prices.

Re: Whirlpool AWZ 541/3 Tumble Dryer Screeching Fan/Motor No

Interference fit – not loose at all.

The fan is available separately at around £35, which while expensive, is a damn sight less than the motor assembly. P/no is 4812 361 18189.

Your drain pump is at best partly blocked, at worst badly worn.

The part legend Dave_Conway will enlighten us to part number and prices shortly.

Power off if you are going to pull the hoses and check for blockages.

    You ‘orrible lot……

Every October the Penguin family goes up to the Family Health Centre and get our Flu Jabs. For Bird Flu. We die of human flu, in fact one of the reasons for the foundation of the Penguinista was revenge for the decimation caused over years by the casual human disregard for the devastation caused in penguin ranks by human flu.

    Serves you all right, too.

As for the downtrodden look, this was taken at 1pm today, just before beetling off to a wedding.

A picture of sartorial elegance for anyone to admire, and a testament to Julia’s impeccable dress sense.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Re: Whirlpool AWG726 Washing Machine – Motor Control Board f

    Hi John,
Motor brushes sound good – couple of years left in them. Extensive research (well, I had a word with Andy2 😀 ) suggests that you should be ok. The labelling of the resistor doesn’t make any sense by the usual standards. We both think the thing to do is plug it in and run the last rinse and spin, see how it goes.

Tub front half is only £31 ssp, back half is £54 ssp, so you’ll pay less than that…… Quite sure this is the right way to go?

Anyway – Granvilles PetroPutty is the stuff to have for small holes. Brilliant stuff; rock hard in two hours. Roughen the surface first.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Re: Hoover WDM130 overfilling

On the speed wash programme simultaneous fill and drain is often used to quickly kill froth, as the number of rinses is reduced.

    Glad you’ve got it going,
