Re: Whirlpool AWG726 Washing Machine – Motor Control Board f

The relay joint failure is a “gimme” over this side of the world. Most of us bridge it to the nearest contact on the edge connector with a length of single strand wire just to make sure. It’s very, very rare for there to be any other problem with the board. You won’t do any harm replacing the resistor; what might be more useful at this point is to check the carbon brushes on the drive motor – they are probably well worn by now and if too short can back load the electronics, causing the problem you have described.

FSO v Mercedes Benz – you really want to argue about it?

That said, unlike FSO, Beko are coming on by leaps and bounds with their laundry stuff..

I suppose we could leave it absolutely alone and just see what the members make of it. That might be interesting……

Bit late now but………. Power off. Disconnect pressure switch hose from chamber. GENTLY, blow into the hose untill you hear the pressure switch “click”. Crush the hose and plug the end. If there is another click shortly, you have an air leak, as the pressure sitch has just dropped back out again.

The cleaners/degreasers are only effective in circulation. You will appreciate that the matrix area is only in use in the fill sequence and has no circulation through it, so is suseptible to depositing from the wash water.

Do it again in about 18 months time! Well done.

    Not quite Mike.
A company engineer will fit a new motor per instructions. The old motor will either go in the bin if they can get away with it, or may be returned to Tech for inspection and ultimate disposal. The odds on us mere mortals getting the motor to stick some brushes in are somewhere between nil and zero.

The PCBs go for any number of reasons.

    1) Door seal chaffed through against lock, leaks, bang.
    2) Door seal is chaffed because supension dampers are not functioning properly.
    3) Dampers may not be working because the friction pad dropped out when the tank was swopped out.
    4) The damper pins may be a loose fit.
    5) They may be knackered due to trying to cope with a partially blocked sump.
    6) The wiring chafes between the fixings on the drum front.
    7) The wiring chafes against the concrete block as it turns under the drum.
    8) The wiring breaks in its run under the drum
    9) The motor plug burns and melts due to the leak from the tub centre seal
    10) It goes bang because it feels like it

No doubt we can start something here – all the ones that verybody else thinks I’ve missed.

Naah, don’t be so negative. It really applies to anything that cost less than £200.

And it ain’t the appliance cost, it’s usually the mentality of the purchaser. And for those of you doing contract work, that of the work provider/insurer.

    Re: Hoover WDM130 overfilling

I’m not sure if that’s rude or not GB; but you can have the benefit of the doubt.

What our poster needs to do is use something like a golf tee to plug the hose and wait. A pin hole can take a few minutes to actually depressurise the system. The machine will then “refill”. By the time the system lets go for the 3rd time, there will be no water left to displace in the pressure chamber, and it’ll keep on filling………

This is one of the newer AEG machines, which uses a fill matrix mounted on the left hand side of the machine. The water level contol chamber and matrix are extremely sensitive to blockages and sludge accumulation. The problem will almost certainly lie there.

I would suggest a recall to your engineer, or a browse through repairs@ and Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Re: AEG Favorit 4020 Timer problem

When you say that the timer no longer functions, do you mean that it does not “tick”and therefore does not advance, or that some specific function does not occur at a given point?

    Re: ZAN ZDS689EX D/WASHER

I think you got lucky there Rob – if you catch these early enough you can get away with the transfer pipes. All too often the matrix (or IWMS) gets choked and it all gets rather expensive.

Too many people say “no” and a BER follows. Shame, as it’s usually the customers own fault for not rinsing off the heavy stuff from the crockery.

    Chris.
