    Re: AEG door gasket problem

I have to say that any sort of lubricant makes the gasket impossible to fit. Like the spring, it has to be stretched to fit and I have never succeeded. The spring can be jammed with a 10mm deep socket trapped at about 10 o’clock. Goes on reasonably easily.

I think Jim’s got a prototype spring fitting widget in an earlier thread. I’m sure he’ll tell us.

Standard fault with these was pinhole in the pipe. Pressurise it and seal it and wait – if after a shor t time you hear the level switch click back down you have a leak in either the hose (common) or the switch (uncommon but does happen). It usually chafes in the soap box area.

    Power off, of course.

Without a test meter I’m afraid you’re not going to get too far. Furthermore we will not advise or recommend on the live testing of appliances for very obvious reasons.

From memory, the display will not illuminate with the door open – the door latch must complete the circuit to power the board. From your description it does sound like a circuit board failure. I would check for dry joints and continuity, beyond that without proper test gear you’re going to need help for a full diagnosis.

Check Directories or repairs@ for help in your area.

BTW, even us professionals can’t get our hands on Bosch tech info.

Re: F&P 601 does not fill

Should be a rotor position sensor fault, down by the motor. Can be wiring, sensor or electronic board. You’ll need a test meter to test properly, power off when inside.

Simpler than that, it’s probably the condenser inlet valve which has failed. Can you hear the hiss of water running into the machine?

Power off if sticking fingers in.

Computer board, every time……. The door lock function is controlled by the timer; everything else is done by the computer.

Not sure about that model number BTW.

    Power off if investigating further.

    Re: Fuzzy logic

I’m interested Andy….. Had hoped for more knowledgeable responses than I might be able to offer.

The first fuzzy logic machines I came across were the Bosch ones. The more I looked at what they were trying to do, the more convinced I became that the key was simply a hair trigger pressure switch set up in order to dose the laundry more precisely.

The bulk hopper dispenser was prototyped by Zerowatt some years ago as a liquid bag dispenser – I have no idea if it ever made, it certainly was only a fixed charge dispenser system.

As Kevin says, we now have infrared turbidity sensors, add to that ntc digital temperature control and “proportional” pressure switches – the limit can now surely only the ability to programme the processor and keep it to a sensible budget.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Re: indesit d63 will not spin or drain

Drain hose down to ground level should allow machine to drain by gravity. However, the circulation chamber on the pump is a sealed unit, and the hoses are attached to the machine by crimp bands. I would seriously recommend getting pro help on this one – it really is a brute to try and work on.

Check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Power off if you are going underneath. :plug:

Bra wire under drum most likely culprit. If it’s gone quiet it may have dropped into the tub to filter hose, or be trapped under the heating element.

    Power off if dismantling.

Re: zanussi wjd1257w filling with water on drying cycle

Is the correct answer! Far more efficient. IME, people only ever buy one washer dryer due to the inefficiency of the dryer set-up.

£130 odd is about the right price for the board BTW, so he wasn’t winding you up.
