Curiously enough the quickest (and cheapest) way to get this belt is to order 1603287 through spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Undoing the screws will allow you to remove the outer door panel. Be extremely careful; you can shave with the edge of the inner door panel.

    Power off, of course.

Check pressure switch and pressure switch hose for integrity and function. If all ok, probable fault lies in computer board.

Hmm – bit of a delay here. It’s a rare one, so, if there is no access panel in the oven cavity the casing must be removed. You must not do this yourself. There are HV circuits running at up to 4000v in the casing, which can best be described as lethal.

If this is the case, check Directories or Repairs@ for a UKW repairer in your area.

There is a wiring loom running down the inside of the door. Everytime that the door is opened and closed you flex it through 90degrees – eventually, the wires break or chaff.

Check this first, the PCB is usually scarey numbers.

    Power off if investigating.

I don’t have the time to waste to find out that the sumps blocked, the belts off, the door seal’s got a hole in it, and oh yes, the bearings have gone……

My ad in Yellow Pages for years said “No Candys”. I am quite seriously considering changing it to “No Hotpoints under 5 years old”.

It’s junk. I know it, you know it and a lot of our customers now know it. I’d rather no risk my hard-earned reputation on this sort of rubbish.

Give it back to Hotpoint, not my problem.

Most likely out of balance switch fault. It corrodes over time.

Power off if removing covers to check.

Oh, for God’s sake. One punter makes a gleeful comment in the Public forums and we have all this. Tony has stated that his retail sales are minimal and are of little interest to his business. Leave it at that and let’s get on with fixing things.

Hit “submit”, spotted the spelling mistake and it all went wonky from there…….

I mean, this is just a typewriter with a screen on top, isn’t it?

    Re: Motor direction

Shouldn’t do – it’s an AC circuit on the great majority of motors, so the phase switching is controlled by the electronics. Brush rake is nothing like as critical as people think BTW…..

Sounds like motor from your description. Check brushes, connectors etc.
Power off if you are going to do this yourself.

Unlikely to be furring up, Andy. If there were a fault in the temperature control circuitry, the computer should fault and abort the wash. The place to start is with the fill hoses – are they connected the correct round? Select rinse and spin and check that the machine fills with cold water, not hot.
