Re: blomberg 1301ABB dead after controller/interlock replace

I assume that the door locks after the click? I can only assume that the lock is wired incorrectly. A careful inspection of the lock (with the power off….) will show it to be marked either 1,2,3 or C,N,L. These letters (if you are lucky) will be printed on the wires close to the terminals. The lock requires a live and a neutral to operate the heater cirtcuit – when it “makes”, it switches power to the control circuitry and allows the machine to operate. Recheck the wiring.

Personally, I always make diagrams before pulling any wire, especially with an appliance I am not overly familiar with.

Check the state of the connector blocks – especially where the tracking blew. The contacts can often be damaged by the bang.

    Power off please………

    Re: Technical Trainers

Roughly, it goes like this. You will have realised that substantial numbers of engineers are employed in medium sized firms that survive by doing contract work for Work Providers. This may be “in guarantee” work for minor manufacturers, or “extended warranty” work for insurance companies. UKW has the opportunity to provide training to these engineers (and UKW members) on appliances which are covered by the above remit, as well as possibly doing the basic training to new recruits to the industry.

For UKW, it offers credibilty within the industry and a good financial opportunity to the trainers and to UKW as employers. Furthermore, we, the membership, will have access to info on newer appliances that much sooner.

Hope that clarifies things a bit,

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Check brushes in drive motor, otherwise suspect electronics fault.

    Power off first…….. :plug:

It’s always the heater with these……… With the power off, you should not get a circuit reading through the heater when tested with a multimeter.

Re: Can dishwashers be fed with hot water rather than cold?

You won’t get 22 years out of a new anything these days. Bosch is decent enough though. Bear in mind that you get what you pay for.

Re: Trying to find new machine

There are plenty of adequate washers around – Zanussi, Whirlpool for example. Gorenje is good value for money amongst the newer brands. Just my personal opinion of course – could do with a few more opinions lads……..

Yes, heater circuit fault. Can be element, safety thermostat, wiring or computer board.

Engineer might be your best bet with this many possibilities. Check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Labour rates vary widely across the country – discuss with your repairer when you make the appointment – most will allow for an hour and a half due to the machine being integrated.

    Re: diplomat dishwasher

Yup, 7 is no drain within the time allowed. Do the obvious first. Check that the previous occupants haven’t blanked the drain coupling, or that it has choked with crud over time.

Next, select any programme and you should hear the drain pump running – it is the first action of most programmes. If you can’t hear it running, the pump will be blocked, jammed or failed. This is awkward as it is not accessible from within the appliance, so it will have to come out of its housing and be removed.

If you are not confident, get pro help – check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area. If you’re going to have a go, drain the machine manually first and ensure that the power is disconnected :plug:
