Re: Zanussi bearing job, 2 do or not?

A key part of a chargeable repair is how you sell it. If the machine has been reliable for three or four years, and the customer is happy with the results she gets from the machine, she may well wish to keep it going. Add to that the the sheer hassle of replacing it (especially in a family environment), and the delay before delivery; being able to say “Yes, I can do it now, it’s £X, and in an hour and a half you’ll be washing again” is a sure-fire winner.

Quite why anyone would want to take a Zanussi away to repair it, or not spend £2 on a tub seal is quite beyond me though.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

51 BS 14 Martin – under a tenner and it’ll take a standard Askoll when the motor packs in 😆 . And you get to listen to the dulcet mellifluous tones of Peggy.

Re: Microwave ovens A recipe for cancer

It’s all in the way people interpret the info – years ago I worked for a consumer polythene firm, who also wound off clingfilm into consumer packs. In 1986, the papers ran a big scare about clingfilm and microwaves; the “cling” additive could cause cancer. It transpired that if you fed a rat 80 times its own body weight of the concentrate additive, it had a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance of developing a cancer. Given that the “cling” additive was less than 0.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} by weight of the film involved the whole thing was utterly ridiculous, yet it ran for weeks and affected the companys business.

The press – don’t you just love them……

    Re: Spam & Reviews

What happened to the idea about “in-service” reviews? Lot of discussion IIRC and far more relevant to us as service engineers than the specifically new ones. We all know that products are built in groups over the platforms life, so if promoted correctly the public could follow UKW engineers travails and make judgements accordingly.

    Re: Gorenje

Is it garbage because it doesn’t say Bosch on the front, garbage because you don’t have the parts on the van or garbage because it’ s garbage?

Personally I find them solid well made machines which are reasonably easy to work on with sensibly priced parts – always a pleasant change these days.

    Cheers,
    Chris.
