ParticipantRe: INDESIT W161UK INTERMITTENT FAULT
8 is supposed to be heater relay fault on PCB…… Dry joint on board? Broken (internally) wiring to heater is another fun one.

Please find the model number of the appliance; ADP—- for instance. 600 is a generic covering a range of appliances nincluding ovens, dishwashers etc. Come to that, you’d better tell us what type of appliance you want help with 😆 .

It’s a Brandt built oven – try http://www.cometspares.co.uk as this is likely to be a model specific component.

Bit cynical that, eh? I’m red/green, green/blue, blue/white and my colour vision is probably as good as anyone’s – just different. So long as we all agree that the sky is blue (not green) and the grass is green (not blue) what does it matter? Naming colours is just a code system and my ability to differentiate colour is as good as anyones. Just different……. 😀
The only time it has ever been a problem was with the old 17 series plastic tank Creda machines. ” 2 stats on the front plate – brown, white, orange, pink and blue wires. With matching spots on the stats – well, nearly. If I had to work down the gap at the front of the machine to deal with these, I always asked the lady of the house to check before I switched back on. In bad light, in a narrow gap, with different coloured spots and wires, I’d challenge anyone to get it right………. Kev will know exactly what I mean.
Oh, and there was the first wife – had to ask the best man what colour dress the bride was wearing….. Let’s not go there.
Cheers,

£300? Value for money? 1200 Bosch – 2 year warranty as well. Mr Conway (as usual) is quite right.

ParticipantRe: Electrolux seems possessed!!!
The timer is just a box full of switches. The machine is controlled by the digital control board – dedicated processor etc. The timer only moves if the digiboard tells it to. SO…… When you set the programme, the switch combination in the timer tells the digiboard which programme to run and away we go. Now, unlike the “old fashioned” electro mechanical machines which advanced every three minutes, this one advances when the predetermined sequence has been completed for each stage. This particular machine will, for instance, shut down functions that do not conform to the programme. This could be motor speed control. If the motor is switched on and a signal is not detected after a preprogrammed period of time, that’s a fault and the programmes shuts off the motor.
The down side of this is that the digital contol board can (and does) go wrong. So can the timer unit, although this is less common. The mention of the timer unit clicking through several positions quickly would point at the digiboard, although (I’m afraid to say) there is no guarantee of this. I have attended these machines where consistant use with a faulty timer has caused the digiboard to pack in as well.
Engineer time?
