We are the repair men. You have had extensive advice for free over two threads about this problem and failed to resolve the it. This would suggest that you have reached the limits if your ability and you now need help.

To complain that this is expensive (especially if you use an independent repairer) is unreasonable.

Fair enough. Can I suggest that we offer Rob some support and encouragement? He has a high post count and obviously enjoys answering the questions and biting the odd pillock. I’d hate so see that enthusiasm wane; not least because the rest of is will have more work to do.

    Re: LG WM-14225-FD, electrical popping!

There is obviously some sort of component breakdown on the pcb, to cause the popping. You either identify which components are failing and replace them, or replace the pcb as a whole.

Most repairers simply don’t have time to take the first route.

Re: whirlpool washer & dryer, error code E04

SMEG-built machine – E04 is the wash temperature sensor error. The ntc thermistor will have either failed or be out of circuit – broken wiring is not uncommon.

Stay safe, power off if you’re fixing this yourself.

Open talks? Give Rob a hint, perhaps? I can be quite diplomatic when required….

Re: What to recommend, Siemens or Miele ?

NEFF/Seimens/Bosch is BSH Group up here and generally respected, although the quality of the “budget” end appliances is agreed to be falling. Out-manufacture is now in Spain, Poland, Turkey and China as far as wee know. Your nearest factories will be in China, so I’d hazard a guess that that’s where they’re coming from – very expensive, moving 70kg white boxes about.

That said, F+P were buying front loaders from Beko in Turkey.

Miele is a class act; quality and expensive. Also very secretive with regard to tech info of any kind. You’ll need to be an approved service agent if you want anything out of the deal beyond the profit on the sale.

B@gger – I’ve got a couple of spare pump housings for the Askoll motor, which you’d have been welcome to. The hose simply isn’t listed for either motor, sorry,

    Re: Diplomat ADP8902

Impossible question, really. Suppressor is cheap, dispenser is reasonably cheap, so they’re van stock. Substitution is sometimes the only way to nail the blighters down. You can sub an inlet valve to the dispenser connections for testing purposes.
