    Re: 3 uf Capacitor

Bob Okines wrote a while back about capacitors along the lines that the output increases by the square of the value, so 3 = 9, therefore 3.5 = 12.25, which is significantly higher…..

Got to be there or very close to thereabouts!

The GB/05 appears to be the current version (you can have a look over on http://www.bshapplianceacre.com ) and shows as a stainless tank Spanish built machine. It’s fully digitally controlled – the knob is just a selector – and is perfectly adequate. It isn’t going to last ten years IMO. I have had problems with the blower/heater housing breaking away from the tub at between 3/5 years – the repair is never totally satisfactory.

Up here, it’s the first week of the school holidays, so it’s a bit quieter. Ticking over, though.

Top to bottom, the buttons go A, B, C, D etc. Press and hold A, B + D. Switch on. Release buttons. Press A. Look at screen and use button A to scroll through the options until you get to “WD1200”. Press Start to save, then switch off.

If that’s not clear enough, I can video the procedure and put it on Youtube for you to have a look at. Won’t be until the weekend, though.

Re: Hoover Comfort Dishwasher HD 96M not taking water.

I can only assume that there is a problem with the water level control system. There is a pneumatic shut off on the fill valve, which is the overfill protection set up. Given that you moved it and it worked and now it doesn’t again, this would make sense. When it doesn’t fill, can you hear a faint humming noise? The valve is still activated (the hum), but the safety system may hold the valve shut mechanically.

Power off, tip the machine back and clean all accessible pipework is probably the starting point – water in any of the skinny tubes leading to the pressure switch and inlet valve is a bad thing.

The NTC temperature sensor should give a reading of approximately 50kOhms at room temperature, falling as the temperature rises. Obviously you will need a test meter to verify this.

The sensor is a notoriously fickle beast – they can read perfectly well on the meter and the computer won’t have it. A splash of water can throw them out as well.

    Replacement part is HERE.

Power off if you’re sorting this yourself.

Isn’t this the one where you have to teach it what sort of machine it’s fitted to? Might have some coding sheets somewhere…… Damned if I’m going to look for them though.

The “cut mains cable” is just a bit of reinforcement to stop the loom flapping about.

The notable absence of a blower motor would explain quite a lot. The thermal cut-out cable is missing as well……
