It took an hour… was unable to resist….. Jameson’s is entirely to blame.
Thought I was quite nice about it, really.

There is a closed Forum for the use of the Mods and Admins. Leaving the Forum visible serves as a reminder to all that there is a small group working to try and keep everything working smoothly, fairly and within the site’s remit. Very, very little is actually moderated or even deleted apart from the constant stream of spamming attempts per day, most of which will not even be noticed by the average forum member.
“The Martin Conundrum” thread started off as a little bit of fun and has become the general chat thread in the Mods forum – I can say with complete honesty that Martin’s return was noticed and commented on due to his significant absence.
Whatever you’ve been up to, I hope you’ve enjoyed it, Martin. Care to share?
Chris,

ParticipantRe: No heat in Hoover Logic Reversing Dryer
Thermostat at the front is just a switch, so you should have damn near 0 ohms in the closed (normal position) and O/C when it cycles. There was a dual level thermostat on the rear drum carrier IIRC – this should also be N/C, ie 0 ohms resistance.
The grinding noise will be that the front edge of the drum has missed the bearing pads at the bottom of the support ring. Back a bit, up a bit, forward a bit should sort it.

If we assume that the pump is blocked, your only course of action is to remove the pump motor to access the pump chamber.
You will need to remove the door outer panel, the kick board and the tray under the machine. The pump motor is in the front left corner and is a twist-fit – you will need to overcome a locking barb first, then it will twist a 1/4 turn and pull away.
Leaning the machine back to a good angle will give you reasonable access from the front and underneath.
Power off first, of course.

*Sigh* Missed all the fun again…. Should we respond to his claim that we Mods and Admins are just a bunch of school kids (Rather than Dan Dares, saving the Universe)?

ParticipantRe: Bosch sms50e02 drain problem assistance please
If the impellor can be moved by hand, select a programme and allow the drain pump to run without the cover briefly. Detritus will generally be thrown out. Replace cover and try properly.

Sounds resaonable – hot water is only called for on the wash programme, not rinse, so the proportional cold water valve is only slightly open.
Valve should read 15 ohms if metered.

From “Known Error Codes” thread:
E3 – 1st, 2nd flashing, 5th lit – no heat in time allowed.

Put in ‘lucky AND goldstar’ – you’ll find most of the recent ones.

Run the diagnostics in the Sticky at the top of the forum. You’ll probably find there’s a fill time-out problem pointing at the cold water valve.

Could we start with a model number? We might have some sort of chance then.
