Took about a week then very comfortable. I’ve got boots, and two pairs of shoes from about six years ago and still plenty of tread on them. Padded collars on the shoes add to the comfort but I still wear them having stopped work last year.

For a start, if you want to claim against expenses you need safety toe caps, I always wore Solovair, like DMs but still made in UK and last for years,

I bet the bearings were still quiet too, took a lot of punishment to kill it.

First item on BBC South Today.
In a way I feel for Whirlpool. They are mopping up 11 years of rubbish made by Indesit and receiving all the flack. I wonder if they are having regrets over this.
I’ve seen the video and can’t for the life of me see how this is going to improve the safety problem and would I keep one in the house, no way.
All I ever sold were White Knight before I retired and rarely a problem with a 40 odd year design that just works, low tech, mechanical timer and very low price.Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
:lol:Never had a granny Martin nor sucked an egg but I agree. Johnnyj has it right imo seals are crap. Never seen a White Knight or Zanussi full of fluff.

Yes, agreed but it never worked well anyway, clean or otherwise.Users don’t clear filters on other makes and other than these I have never opened one up and found a fluff moulding shaped to the drum. Bad design, cabinet through to the belt.

Surely the lint filter is at the front,never did a good job anyway as evidenced when taking the side panels off but this problem is behind the drum…no?Re: Is it just me or is anyone else quiet?
I have to agree. I retired in June after 33 years, the last 15 self employed. For the last couple of years selling appliances kept my head above water. Even existing customers wanted new instead of paying too much for PCB or tub changes. I didn’t want to go to work and be a parts swopper, real repairs died some years ago. I was bored.
I thought retiring would be difficult but 2 cartilage operations eased me into it and it is great, good pensions help but crawling about on grubby floors for not much reward isn’t something I would recommend to anyone.
I’m glad I’m out and can’t see much of a future for the small repairer unless the do refrigeration ,regassing and american. It was too late for me to go that route Gas where I live was a non starter, none around.
I know some will say adapt and survive and I see the point but much depends on how long you have to go.
