    Cheers Mike, glad you advised me on this, as I was concerned I couldn’t find fault, this machine also get a lot of use in a day nursery.

    Are the brushes too lose in there guides this can cause them to arc or in this case just one maybe. you could have an intenal armature fault, need special equipment to test.

    you dont usually need to skim the com unless badly worn or rewiring armature, com stick will bed in brushes for normal wear.
    best to use hard com stick first ,used by (armature winders) if problem persists best to take to armature winders to test & skim.

    Eastlmark, not quite sure what you mean by change the square, dosent the stat fit directly into switch selector, I am not sure please let me know.
