I could not do with out my accoutant.Worth his weight in gold.I do all the donkey work recording all recipts and invoices on spread sheets get all the figures sorted in a nice tidy fashion.Because the more you can do the less he has to do so it keeps your bill down.
Then he just goes over the figures.I could fill in the tax return with the info I provide him but he is the expert at tax avoidance not tax evasion.A fine line between the two I feel at times but as long as Im on the right side of the line.Im happy 😆rolf

Im afraid you’ve shot youreslf in the foot.I think you really need to think if you really want this work.
If you do.What I would do is just pop in and see them and ask them out right whats happened to the work (act dumb). When they tell you its because you dont want to do high rise flats.Just laugh and tell them you were only joking and its been a big misunderstanding and you dont want to loose a good working relationship you have had.
The thing is your going to have to do the top floor deliveries cos as you’ve found out. They will just find someone that will.Let us know which way you go with it 🙂rolf

Good on you madmac.Im just picturing the scene. You telling two burley roofers to sling it,them wanting there money and a copper in the middle with no idea what to do.
Its people like these that give selfemployed tradesmen a bad name. You only have to watch rogue traders to think that everyones at it.Folks are very much on there guard nowadays you have to win or earn there trust.I think you know when your doing a good job if they call you back and recommend you to friends.Nobody is going to please everyone all the time but as long as most are happy your doing ok.
I know the bulk of my work comes through recomendations not adverts .Lets face it there is nothing nicer than knocking on the door and them telling you that you’ve been recommended by a friend. 😀rolf
ParticipantRe: sons
Oh I love those that start trying to tell you how to do your job.
The I could of done it myself brigade.Nine times out of ten they dont have a bloody clue. You just feel like telling em if your so bloody smart what am I doing here.Customers ahhh your carnt beat em ……………………..only with a stick. 😆rolf

I think I would be really annoyed about the qestioning of if you really replaced the cut out.Shes basically calling you a cheat. You should of told her it would of cast her £100 to get indesit out so she got a bargain.ohhhhhhhh they make you mad.
I think you could tell some people it will be a fiver and it would be to much.
For instance I went to a tumble dryer down the road fault not working dead.Timer knob had broke.New part was about nine quid .So me being a mug thought I wont charge her full labour I said 30 quid will do it only a five minuite job.She went up the wall 30 pound for a new knob blah blah.I nearly told her to shove it but its not very professional. 😥rolf

Yout absolutley right about the vinyl. As someone on here in a previous topic had wrote. Cds and downloads are just too clinical.I think it may of been squadman. Then again it might of been a dream. 😉rolf

To be honest Lee shes right.I bought one once I looked a right pillock. They make you look like your going down the mines not under a machine.I think I will just stick to the old lead lamp. 😉

I thought I would bring this post back to life cos It states jukebox.I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who owns a jukebox.I have a 1962 rockola none of your fancy circuit boards just valves and stuff for that distinct sound. My fav track on there is .You never can tell by chuck berry.Any one that has watched pulp fiction will know why.Plus I only paid 50p for the track at the local carboot so it beats itunes. 😉

Chris I too am struggling to justifying a one hundred pound repair bill to fit a second hand part. But in my eyes thats the customers choice.I tell them up front its a recon.yet your right it doesnt sit that well with me either. The customer could have the whole lot new plus any other parts for £99 plus the whole machine guaranteed for three months. So come on EMW you do a fantastic job but please no more price rises.Tony in no way am I having a dig its just a case of .If we all work together we can all prosper.Madmac ive never been choosey and if she fancies you your onto a winner ……..kaching
