ParticipantRe: Samsung – SRS536NP fridge not cooling freezer ok
we’ve just taken the back of the freezer to bits and have discovered lots of ice between the cooling bits. It’s being hairdried as I type, fingers crossed all will spring into action soon!

hooray!!! UK white goods to the rescue again 🙂
Had a poke about and have managed to sort it! (Didn’t see any significant blockage or obvious sign of fault but poking about seems to have done the trick). All sorted,

Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your reply, it was indeed a Miele 423 and is ancient so thanks for the forewarning, looks like I’ll be heading to the shops 🙁 .
Can you recommend a good front loader that’s around the AU$1000 mark? (Im happy to spend more if it’s going to pay off in the long run but I don’t want to go for a pile of crap that will break in 13months) As Im new to Australia I have no idea which brands are good and which should be avoided at all costs. Or at a push can you point me in the direction of some reviews or a helpful website (Im finding decent Australian websites very hard to come by at the moment).

Thanks Goatboy, I’m pretty sure the Miele is the way forward but sadly the Blomberg will have to go to whitegood heaven as I have no room at the inn!

Ok, I’ve taken the lock mechanism out and given it a shake, sounds solid – no tell tale rattles. The black L shaped bit (electric bit!???) that is attached to the lock had some corrosion/ oxidation on the connections so I cleaned those up. I also had a look inside the actual lock mechanism and that was also all in one piece.
It’s all back in place, Ive followed every wire I can see from start to finish and cannot see any breaks or sign of damage. The program circuit board and on/off circuit boards also look fine – no obvious signs of electrical fault/ smoky bits!
Can you suggest anywhere else / anything else I could do? Sorry for the complete lack of technical jargon but Im getting quite good at poking about in the small spaces of the washer now! (I guess this is the reason why they use funny screws!)
Many thanks. -
