(And that is something worth trying. Get the filter out, then take out a little rubber washer using forceps or snipe pliers. There may be a plastic thing behind that too. You should end up with a completely open inlet to the valve.)
    Mike.

The effect of too low a water pressure is the valve can dribble even when the appliance is switched off, the tub can fill with water and then and leak onto the floor. This normally only affects the hot valve which is usually tank fed and at a much lower pressure than the cold.

The hot valve must have the plastic flow restrictor removed and will operate at less than 1 Bar without a problem. Most Bungalows, with a tank fed supply have a hot water pressure of only 0.3 Bar.

The only water systems that I have found to cause problems are single floor dwellings with the header tank in the airing cupboard above the HW cylinder.

    Re: MFI Turmoil

The 0.31p for unsecured creditors is for the creditors of MFI Retail, we were shafted by MFI Financial Services and I doubt there will be a distribution from them; it looks as if there will not be enough cash in the pot to pay Zolfo Cooper. My heart bleeds for them !!!!!!!.

The work we did for MFI and had to invoice to two other firms has also to be considered. Our authorisation was from MFI Financial Services and any unpaid invoices have to be charged back to them.

We have unpaid invoices that were sent to the two firms concerned and there is a possibility that they will finish up with their mammary glands pointing skywards.

Para 2.3 of Zolfo Cooper’s second epistle to the shafted, specifically states that the majority of the debts were subject to “alleged set-off”.
Set-off if not alleged, it is a perfectly legitimate maneouvre to offset reciprocal debts.

It will be very interesting to see if the administrators initiate legal action against the MFI directors; it would appear they have continued to trade whilst insolvent, which is a criminal offence.

like if we are very lucky we may get 0.31p in the pound, I don’t think that is going to happen as we are only engineers in there eyes.

Go ahead and sue them, if they request you to carry out the repair, they are obliged to pay you to carry out their instructions.

Sevice power will have no defence as it is a clear breach of contract.

Oh well, if nothing else it shows Bradshaws for what they are and gives me something else to whinge about as well as another axe to grind I guess. 😕

    K.

If Bradshaws have not paid the judgment Ken, apply for a “warrant of execution” and let the Court Bailiff collect the cash,or, sieze goods to sell to settle the award. Also do not neglect to charge the interest on the award for the time to settle.

As far as a register goes it would be a nice idea but a legal minefield best left avoided IMO

If you have to sue a Customer and get a Judgment, The details are in the public domain and I can’t see a problem with having a register of bad debtors.

I would file a claim online with the Court Service, you do not have to chase them for the money. We are getting “ripped off” too often with this sort of operation. It will cost you £30.00 to file the claim, which you add to the value of the Invoice and can claim interest at the county Court rate from the Invoice date.

Oh yes, I think most of us share your experience. Unfortunately whilst the Small Claims Court will almost always make judgement in your favour, very little can be done to enforce payment from the defendant.

County Court Judgements (CCJ’s) will prevent them thereafter getting loans and mortgages until any CCJ’s are settled but that does not do you any favours in getting your money back. 🙁

In my experience those that owe money in this way are usually tenants or persons receiving benefits and those that have nothing to lose should a CCJ be bestowed upon them in the first place. It would be most unlikely anyone with a nice house, family runabout and a large mortgage to be in that position. So be on your guard next time you do work in the less salubrious neighbourhoods and be sure they pay in cash before you complete the work 😉

If a customer does not pay in accordance with a Court Order, issue a “Warrant of Execution” with the same court, it cost £30.00 for a small claim. The collection is then handled by the Court Bailiff. We have never had a failure using the Warrant system, and the customer has to pay the fee for the issue of the Warrant.

Sadly your mate will end up with customer complaints due to them being waiting for an engineer’s visit 🙁

I would ask that you encourage him to refuse to accept the reduced BER call fee as we all know that Servis UK pay the full sum to Gbdar for all calls whether they are BER or not 😉

    Dave.

GBDAR and the like remind me of the old tale about the OOZLUM BIRD,
that lives in the desert, eats sand and defecates through a triangular rectum. Hence the PYRAMIDS.

When pursued these birds fly in ever decreasing circles until each bird enters the fundamental orifice of the bird in front. When only one bird is left, it continues to fly in ever decreasing circles until it enters it it’s own fundamental orifice and, from there, spits shit and cinders at all in the vicinity.

I went away from that without being convinced.

If that is the case I as a Service Force agent I am not best pleased as we do not get repairs in year 1 on Comet sourced appliances, they do their own in-house service.

    any info gladly received

We had trouble with this type of pump a few years ago. It was a standard British Zanussi installed in a van on a Drilling Rig powerd by a big diesesl generator running at 240v at 60Hz. The pump was unreliable, frequently it would not start. I changed the pump; ten times no better ! I consulted Zanussi Technical and was assured a 50HZ pump would not be reliable at 60Hz. They tried to get a 60Hz unit but it never appeared.
The Site operators bored a hole in the floor of the van and stuck the drain
hose through the hole to drain the machine, then lifted it up to do the next stage of the programme. It must have been a very tedious task doing the laundry.
The drilling site was on hundreds of acres of sand dunes so the waste water just soaked away into the sand.
