Ok ok.
Guess what. I took out the motor. Took out the brushes and they were about 1/2 inch long. One was a little bigger than the other by about a millimetre.
Anyhow, I put the brushes back in, because I thought that 1/2 inch was okay for now (is it?) and loo and behold the machine is working again!
What’s that all about then?
Do I need more brushes?
I’ve had this machine about ten years and then about a year and a half ago I had to replace the brushes for the first time ever. Now only a short while later can they have worn down already?
Maybe the replacement brushes that I got from this site don’t last as long as the oiriginal Bosch ones???

ParticipantRe: larger size washing machines
Thanks Guys for those suggestiions.
I think what I had in mind was not so much a larger drum size in an existing 60X60 unit. But a larger machine altogether in abigger enclosure etc.
Are there such machines for the domestic consumer?
they have them down the launderette! (but maybe they’re too big.
😕

Thanks for the brushes suggestion.
But I had the machine several years and only replaced the brushes last year (purchased from this site) – surely the brushes couldn’t have gone already?
I suppose I’ll have to have the motor out and have a look! 🙁

UPDATE – doesn’t seem to spin either.
This machine could be around 10 years old.
Is it time to upgrade?
I’ve replaced the brushes about a year ago!
Also I have a hotpoint WD440 in a cupboard relatively new and not had much use. Should i chuck the Bosch and use the Hotpoint instead (I have a separate drier though. ❓

Thanks for that Bryan. Is it that the higher the mA or A on the transformer the faster it will charge it?
Also am I right in assuming that 1200mA is the same as 1.2A?
And finally – to make sure I understand – what if the transformer was say 2.4 A output and the appliance was say 400mA (is that the same as 0.4 A?) – then that would be fine?
What – as amatter of interest would happen if say the appliance was just slightly above the transformer? Would it damage the appliance or would the transformer just get very hot?
Sorry to sound thick about this.
THanks again.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFF2001 Carbon Brushes problem and parts question
Wow. Okay so now I will order the part and hope for the best. Thanks everyone for the assistance.
I can’t see any grooving or anything. And I did put the old brushes back and the machine seems to work now! But from what you guys say it might damage the commutator to use such worn brushes.
Hope the deliveries are quick – my wife is launderette allergic.

Time to get my spirit level out then? Actually that was a serious point. Is that how one does it with a spirit level? If so, do you just use the level on the top of the machine or on the sides as well.
Many thanks – I hope it works.
One other question though… can one actually adjust the door itself (i.e. like on kitchen cupboard doors where you can adjust the hinges).
Thanks again
