    No Worries

Sorted it via youtube. In the sense that no video on YT mentions anything about which way around the wires connect, so I assumed that it doesn’t matter.
All put back together and working fine…… until next time.

So thanks Dave, I am once again very grateful for your help.

    Gents

    A quick question

I can see no markings on the Capacitor, so how can I tell which connector goes on which? Or doesn’t it matter.

    Thanks

    Nuts!

Too late, I bought the Gen part.

Never mind, I’m happy to pay the extra just for the advice I’ve received.

    I’ll know for next time.;)

    Regards & Thanks

I’ll head over to the online UKW shop
See if they have a capacitor.

    Thanks for your advice Dave

    Thanks Dave

Its stopped turning altogether at the mo, it is making a sort of buzzing crackling noise.
    Still possibly capacitor?

If so, where is the capacitor situated, and is it replaceable?

    Thanks

    One more thing.

Even with nothing in the dryer as the drum turns there is a slight thudding, as you would hear maybe if there was a full load and the load is falling side to side as the drum turns, but there is no load!

    Afternoon all

Today I had some time, so went around to my sons to try & get to the bottom of what is going on with the fridge.

I took off the cover/fascia on top of the door revealing the wiring loom from the main body into the door which travels along the top hinge.
After also removing the fascia on top of the fridge which conceals the loom into the fridge, I noticed that one of the wires had broken (a white wire).

So after finding both ends of the wire and soldering back together, and putting it all back, the fridge is in full working order.

I assume that the wire was almost broken, and thus moving the door made enough of a connection for the fridge to spring into life temporarily.
However upon dismantling, it probably came fully apart.

Anyhow, hopefully this may help someone in the future.

    Regards & Thanks

    Hi All

It turns out after some internet searching that the model number on the sticker is a bit of a red Herring. there is another sticker with this number on it.
    Model KNF60HX18.

    Serial No. 1842003135

    Thanks

    Fair point Dave

Then again, I have to bare in mind that money is also tight at the mo.
I don’t mind trying to reach a bit further if I’m getting a bargain.
Say for example a £600 machine on offer for £500 etc.
Also I have to bare in mind that I paid probably £150 for the Hotpoint second hand, and its been faultless for about 5 to 7 years.
Why pay £500 to £700 for a machine that might be faultless for 10 years or more, when I can buy 2 £300 machines that’ll possibly last he same time?

    I dunno, I’m in 2 minds.

If I can get another few weeks out of the dryer, I can hunt around in the sales.
Again, if I can get some recommendations of the more quality models nearer the time, I’ll see what deals are about, or options to pay in instalments.
I don’t have any problem buying a second hand quality machine, or display model etc.

    Anyhow, I’m off to work.

    Photos to come.
    Regards

OK the Dryer is up & running.

I think I might have very slightly dented the drum when putting the belt on the pulley tensioner, as when it was running I could see the belt very slightly moving up & down.
The rear of the drum & the front are running true, so I’m not too bothered.
The screws that are lower front of the machine (the ones under condenser flap) all cracked or broke the plastic. So I have lined them up & put them back with washers to hold in place.
The drum is turning nicely, very slight smell of burning, but I think that was the heater plates starting up after the icy conditions.

I won’t leave it unattended for a few weeks, and if it goes again, I’ll post in here looking for recommendations for a Sub £400 pref machine.

In the meantime I can only say that I have done my best, & I thank Dave (Electrofix) for his help and advice and also to Kai for his advice.

I’ll host the photos in google drive & see if I can post them there.

    Regards & Thanks

    Simon
