The Equalizer
ParticipantGot the Fan today thanks Dave
I’ve fitted it, and it all seems to be working perfectly.
So thanks very much once again for your advice, I very much appreciated and needed it.

Thanks very much.

ParticipantOddly enough, my multimeter stopped working when I got it out
TypicalI did find a current detector that told me that I had voltage going up to the live of the Fan motor. I also saw a burnt area around part of the motor around the Winding. So I gambled £60, that it is the fan.
If it’s not, then I guess that’s on me, and I’ll have to get an expert in….. Once my Covid has gone.
I’ve just been googling Multimeters lol they range from £15 for the cheap n nasty to about £300 for the Fluke. sheesh. The Equalizer
ParticipantJust seen a very useful youtube clip on how to remove and replace the fan motor on a rangemaster fan oven.
That looks perfectly doable to me.
So I just need to locate the correct part. I’ll head to the UKWhitegoods shop see what they say

ParticipantHi Dave
I didn’t expect your good self to reply.
My level of skill on fault finding is not too bad, no where near your level of course, I’m strictly a DIYer.
I’ll do some googling to see if I can find a video on that specific cooker and how to access the fan.
I don’t know whether its accessed from the back or front etc.I’ve had tumble dryers in pieces replacing belts and drum bushes etc as you now, but not messed much with cookers.
Thanks
Simon
Thanks

ParticipantThanks Dave
I will report back, but I can only say Thank you.
I have read a few topics lately on this forum about Heat Pump Dryers, and as our dryer is in a partly unheated part of the house, I don’t think its wise to go for a Heat pump.
I’m looking at the Hoover H-DRY 300 LITE HLE C10DCER-80 10kg
or the Beko B3T4911DG 9kg
If I was to try Heat pump, I’d possibly look at the Hotpoint NT M11 9X3E 9kg

ParticipantI’m just looking at the Bosch WTN83201GB, which I can get hold of for £338 on Amazon used & Returned, which usually means opened unused and returned

ParticipantLooks like the bearing has sheered off. The drum still turns ok. but as I said, I think its come to the end of its life.
I’ve spent about £150 on parts in the last year or so. I’m better off investing in a new machine.
So again, I welcome any suggestions preferably in the £300 to £350 area?

ParticipantBloody Hell
I just tool of the plastic cover off, the one that covers the bearing and the top of the bearing fell off, along with the split pin that holds it in.
I get the impression that I’m playing wakamole with this dryer.I think its come to the end, I’m not going to continue to pay out for it.
So looks like I’d welcome suggestions for a reasonably priced Tumble dryer. One with a condenser please.October 26, 2023 at 9:59 am in reply to: Hotpoint CDN7000P (UK) Tumble Dryer intermittently spinning #488316The Equalizer
ParticipantThanks Dave
I’ll take the element out & make sure its connected ok, Failing that I assume its another new heating element?

ParticipantHi Dave
If your still keeping an eye on this post, something else has cropped up that I wondered if you could help me with.
My wife tells me that it’s not getting as hot as it used to.
Now I put a new Heating element in about 6 months ago or less, so I just wondered if its likely to be that, it seems to make little to no difference if you push the button in for high heat or low heat. Thanks

ParticipantJust noticed that there is a little damp patch on the floor under the Tumble Dryer.
Water is collecting in the water Tank, but not a huge amount. What might that be?
