Yes, have fully cleaned the control panel.
sounds like I need to get a repair person out.thrombel
Participant*UPDATE*
andyjawa was spot on! Had repair man out, he sat & listened to the machine, identified the water wasn’t going up to the middle basket or top cutlery drawer. Said a new part needed, something to do with a motor, I think.
Pulled the machine out & discovered a loose connection/wire in the sump area. The component that tells the machine to take water up to the middle basket & cutlery drawer. He reconnected it & made good. Said he’s never come across this before.
So just a call out fee incurred.
Its 10 yrs old &n has done well so far. On at least once a day.
Repairs so far:
1st repair – Door spring broke (under manufacture guarantee)2nd repair – think it was something to do with the pump/sump area.
3rd repair – loose wire/connection

ParticipantThank you for the detailed reply.
I went straight to option 2 because it’s a quick & easy method!
I ran the machine for 10 mins, it made the usual swishing noises, then goes quiet for a few seconds & then starts back up again. This is normal for my machine.
Low & behold the middle basket blade I marked with a permanent dot didn’t move! I double checked – ran the machine for another few mins, blade not moved at all.
I will book an engineer.
Once again thank you for your help, much appreciated.

ParticipantIt’s not a one off, been doing it for a few weeks now.

ParticipantThere’s cloudy water in the sump – 1” deep. Is this normal?’

ParticipantFollowing on from yesterdays post, used same programme & pressed the intensive button.
Cutlery still dirty (top drawer). Glass items & cups have got dried on food deposits (feels gritty).
The door interior is caked in mash potato residue, can’t upload pic. Never had this before….
any ideas why it’s not cleaning properly.
Filter checked & all clean
spray arms all fine, no blocked holes.many thanks

ParticipantYes, it’s a small round plasticthing. It turns manually & seems to be OK.
as always, I make sure cutlery is spaced out ok & not touching other cutlery.

ParticipantHad my WDD030 Miele 5 yrs
Family of 4 so it gets used a lot.it’s by far the best washer i’ve owned. Cleaning is phenomenal – typical kids stained clothing, mud/grass stains, curry, the lot. I never use vanish, just detergent & let Miele do it’s job.
Interestingly laundry is in a loose pile at the end of wash, not stuck to the sides of drum. Therefore much less ironing as alot of items dry crease free – joggers/hoodies, school uniform like blazers, skirts, trousers. I get away with a lot less ironing. Win, win!
Miele every time for me from now on. I’ve had several brands in the past & Miele has been by far the best.

ParticipantIf budget allows Miele. I’ve got an entry level.
I’ve owned several brands over the past 25 yrs & Miele is by far the best. It also depends on your own needs but I needed a machine that cleans well (messy kids so lots of stained clothing + mud/grass stains).
Everything comes out spotless & less creased so no need to iron school trousers/skirts/hoodies etc. I never use Vanish, no need, let Miele do it’s job.

On average use the OP machine is already over 8 years old so it has done very well.
Circa 14 loads a week, most manufacturers would look at this as commercial use, we know it isn’t as it’s for a family.
Don
Hi Don,
my sister-in-laws Samsung has packed up after 8 yrs, light useage, 2 people. Does make you wonder why machines don’t last long these days.My Miele is 4 yrs old – will be interesting to see if it lasts like they claim they do. Family of 4 so easily 5 loads a week.
thrombel
ParticipantCrieky, your current machine only 2 yrs old! When the time comes, at least you can purchase a new machine quickly without having to do any leg work.
My Miele allows you to add items before the water level becomes too high.
You won’t be disappointed with Miele.

ParticipantI would look at the models that have got ‘power wash’
the programmes are long on Miele, especially if you are doing several washes a day, power wash will be of benefit you.

ParticipantMiele all the way.
I’ve had my Miele 4 yrs. Family of 4 (teens who produce lots of washing). I’ve got an entry model (cheapest) & it does the job brilliantly. Stain removal is excellent, never use Vanish, no need, let Miele do it’s job.
Everything comes out less creased so less ironing! Don’t have to iron Hoodies, school trousers/skirts etc.
Prior to the Miele I also had a Siemens, lasted 8 yrs. It had lots of bells & whistles, drum light too. It washed well but after having a Miele it made me realise that I didn’t need bells & whistles. My Miele is very basic, looks like something out of the 70s but boy, it’s an amazing machine & without a shadow of doubt, I will by another Miele when it needs replacing. You really pay what you get for.

ParticipantI’ve got a Miele & I’m militant about removing the detergent drawer after each wash & leaving it to air dry. + I leave the door open too.
Its as fresh as a daisy!
I once went on hol & my old machine absolutely stank when we got home. The door had been jammed shut.
+ run the machine on empty with a scoop of standard powder, 90 degrees.

ParticipantI’ve got an entry model Miele & it’s superb. it’s 3 years old & gets used heavily – family of 4. Badly stained kids clothing, grass stains/mud stains, curry stains etc. The Cleaning power is phenomenal.
everything comes out spotless whereas I’ve had cheap washing machines in the past & they just don’t clean as well…
The entry level suits my needs fine. I don’t need bells & whistles.
As for 7kg or 8kg it’s strange because in the showroom both drums were exactly the same size…. I measured the internal size. So I’m not sure what the difference is for 7kg & 8kg…
You won’t be disappointed with a Miele. You can pick up an entry level for around £600. Money well spent…
