ParticipantEpisode 3…..
The original Bosch man + his colleague turned up today. The colleague is almost certain its the left hand switch is faulty – which is causing the microwave function to automatically switch off after 23 seconds.
New door switch on order & will be fitted next week. No charge for this extra part. Despite the original Bosch man doing all the checks with his handheld device, the colleague said it doesn’t always identify a problem on the door switch.thrombel
ParticipantThe Bosch man identified the problem – the sump is leaking. He’s had to order the part & will fit it next week.
£29 for a new sump + the standard Bosch call-out fee of £99.thrombel
ParticipantObviously at no extra cost…

ParticipantBosch engineer has booked another 2 hour visit next week & will bring another engineer with him to see if they can fathom it out – 2 heads are better than one!
thrombel
ParticipantHe has done loads of tests with a handheld thing & can’t find out what the problem is…. 2.5 hours later….. He is going to make some enquiries & come back another day. If it can’t be fixed then I will get a full refund of what its cost to fix so far.
He now needs to fix our Bosch dishwasher – thats gone wrong too….
thrombel
ParticipantEven the Bosch repair man is baffled…….
He’s just replaced the Magnatron & Invertor that he fitted last week & guess what…… it’s still witching off after about 20 seconds.
1.5 hours later & he’s now stripping the oven down. Just can’t find the source of the problem.
More follows as I get it.

ParticipantThanks for the engineer list! Never knew it existed! will definitely check that list out next time!

ParticipantWe’ve got the same error code with our Bosch dishwasher thats 5.5 years old……. E15 just keeps re-appearing & isn’t going away! We’ve had to switch it off at the mains because but the pump kept whirling away, despite turning the dishwasher off on the door front.
Got Bosch coming out tomorrow to fix it. Hope its repairable……..
thrombel
ParticipantGot fed up with local engineers that either didn’t turn up or returned my calls. A shame as they are welcome to have my custom! All my Bosch appliances are breaking down 1 by 1….. So they’ve missed out there….
Any repairs by Bosch are guaranteed for 12 months, so I’m well covered & Bosch has already said there’s no call-out charge. Just a coincidence that the dishwasher is being looked at tomorrow so it made sense for the Bosch man to take a look at the oven at the same time.
I got it wrong – husband said they discounted it to £335, but this also includes replacing the internal glass & seal (cracked)
Call-out – £99
Magnatron – £80
Invertor – £100TOTAL £279 – do you think this still expensive?

ParticipantMiele all the way. I bought a Miele washing machine 12 months ago to replace a Siemens that packed up after 8 years (Bosch, Siemens & Neff are the same group).
We’ve got an entry level Miele. You can pick them up from about £600. The cleaning power is phenomenal. My kids trash their clothes – mud, grass, curry stains, the lot. No need for Vanish, everything comes out spotless with regular washing powder. Clothes smell extremely fresh too – no need for fabric conditioner. I’m not sure how the clothes come out smelling much fresher than my Siemens. Miele has got me on that one! I always get rid of excess water from the drawer & leave the door open so no dodgy smells build up.
Its silent in wash mode – you can’t hear the motor at all, just the sound of water swishing around. It only makes a noise in spin mode.
Whites stay white….. None of this grey lark with towels/bed linen.
Less ironing too – no longer need to iron the kids school skirts & trousers! Happy days!
The clothes are in a loose pile at the end of the cycle, not stuck to the side – so can only assume this has resulted in less creased clothes. The Miele entry level machines are very basic looking – remind me something out of the 70s with the orange dial! Miele clearly don’t invest a lot of money in design – its not snazzy looking but it performs brilliantly and this outweighs all the benefits of what I’ve said above!
You won’t be disappointed with a Miele! Considering a Miele entry level is about the same price of a high spec, all singing all dancing Bosch/Samsung etc. I know what I would choose….. There is no comparison.

ParticipantBosch use Panasonic parts too!! I saw them on the side when the Bosch man replaced the invertor & magnatron – £400….. Our hands were tied because these combi ovens are damm expensive & to replace like for like is a whopping £1500.
Anyways – all was good, microwave worked for a few days & we are back to square one, its switching off after about 20 seconds again……. Phoned Bosch & they are coming out tomorrow (obviously free of charge). I already had them booked for tomorrow because dishwasher has broken too…..
Our Bosch appliances are 5.5 years old & feeling somewhat disappointed & out of pocket. 2 appliances break down within week of week of each other. Why isn’t stuff built to last these days???

ParticipantI purchased a Miele classic model (the cheaper end) with the 10 year guarantee this time last year! There are no catches! Its by far the best washing machine I’ve had. The clothes come out so clean & smell incredibly fresh – no need for fabric conditioner. Family of 4 with lots of kids stained clothes (grass stains, mud, food stains, the lot). They come out spotless. The motor is silent – the only time you hear it running is in spin mode. The clothes are in a loose pile at the end of the cycle – not stuck to the side of the drum – can only think this is why I now have less ironing. I no longer need to iron school skirts/trousers!
You will not be disappointed with a Miele & the 10 yr guarantee is a no brainer!

ParticipantRe: Miele – 7kg versus 8kg capacity
£80 more for the 8kg model…..
In my local showroom.Think you are right, sales ploy….
I fell for it & insisted on the 8kg model…..I’m looking to replace my tumble dryer soon. Will be measuring the drums!

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Washer Drier Noisy Spin
Agree, check out Miele, especially as those Neff/Bosch prices you quoted are about the same price of an entry level Miele.
I’ve had lots of brands over the years & they just don’t compare to Miele.
My entry level Miele washes brilliantly (lots of heavily stained kids clothes), clothes smell fresher, it’s silent (other than the noise of water swishing around & spin mode). Not sure how they produced such a motor.
Clothes come out less creased, so less ironing! No need to iron the kids school uniforms anymore! When finished, the clothes are in a lose pile & not stuck to the sides. I guess this is why clothes are less creased? I could go on & on…..thrombel
ParticipantRe: Samsung ww70k5413ux very noisy
Maybe it’s the brand because my sister-in-laws Samsung is really noisy, abeit it’s not a recent model.
Whereas my Miele is silent, apart from the spin mode. All you can hear is the faint noise of water swishing around in wash mode. When I first got it I was checking reguarly to see if it was actually running because I couldn’t hear anything!! I’ve no idea how they’ve produced a silent motor!!
You can pick up an entry Miele model for £600+. I’ve just got a basic model as wasn’t prepared to spend £1,000+ on Miele’s expensive models. Food for thought next time round.
