Re: Combined Insurance Inspection Service or CIIS?

    Hi Laurence
I have dealt with them on several occasions and have never had a problem with them, they always pay on time (usually within 2 weeks though not always), and they never argue about the call out charge.
If you fax them an invoice they pay even quicker.

    Regards

    Hi Walnut
sorry for the delay in replying
I use jurt one database for customers and records, just a tick in a box sorts out the days jobs (Sorted by time, postcode and town)
This is just one I made up from the software programe for my own use, it is not a comercial programe. I am only a one man band so it does me fine for now

I am looking forward to the ACH software, I cant make the meetings so I have no I dea what it is like, but I am sure it will be just what most of us need and I will certainly be interested in buying it, if it is suitable

Re: Software for tracking customers / jobs.

Currently 1978 parts records & 3416 Customer records with plenty of room left. You can store these on a CS Card with almost a limitless amount of memory for this sort of thing. Looking things up is very quick, almost instant
I have also created databases for fault codes & a model reference database for quickly finding out which parts fit which machines
The software is HandBase for Palm OS. They also do a version for Windows mobile
My PDA is a Palm T3 which is now a bit dated ( 2 Years old). but the new PDA’s from most manufacturers are very good & have larger storage capacity, One even has 4 gb hard drive

Re: Software for tracking customers / jobs.

I use a PDA to track all my jobs and spares, I had to set up the datadbases myself which was not difficult and the software cost me about £30.00 (Comercial pakages can cost £100’s)
A few taps on the screen brings up the customer details and previous calls to them . (provided I have been to them before)
The spares database tells me the retail price, if I have it in stock and who the cheapest supplier is.
All this information and lots more is synchronised with my PC at home every evening, so the info is there as well for safety. A tool I would not be without.
    Total cost including software £250

I have always carried one, I don’t know why as I have never had to use one until now. I have been doing this job for nearly 30 years, this is the first time anything like this has happened

    Make was a Bosch
I forgot to take model number, but it was one of the Classixx range (Base model)
Should I inform Bosch?, as I have a feeling the customer will not

Apparently they have been taken over by another company. I havn’t actually spoken directly with my brother in law ( Iwill be seeing him next week). They have got rid if 6 or 7 out of 11 engineers and all the telephone girls, luckily he has kept his job for now.

I dont remember seeing anything in the box, but it did come with what looks like a wiring diagram. (Thats proberly it?) but the writing is so small I can hardley make it out (even with glasses on)
I will try to figure it out, but if anyone can offer any other help, I would really appreciate it
