    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

    Hi Dave, All

    Final entry

Ordered the 35mm non gen kit ( have to say, not impressed with the quality at all, pretty bad casting, scratching on the shaft and a fair bit of meat missing over the original design so don’t have a great deal of confidence in it lasting as long as the old one but time will tell) new screws and a bolt off the bay.
All cleaned up and looked brand new, screwed with loctite, bearings went in OK although the inner bearing water seal seemed to sit more proud than the old one so possibly bearing a little thicker and yes the bearings were fully seated.
Tub seal looked and felt perfect so re used after a clean.
Shaft of spider also didn’t protrude out of the outer bearing quite as far as the old one but as the pulley didn’t rub when bolted down left it as is. Attibute this to the water seal.
All in and working just fine. No leaks or strange noises.
Can’t believe the heater element didn’t fracture with the amount of smacking the drum took.
Only annoying thing was I managed to hoover up one of the white u shaped Spring protectors from the case when cleaning the inside of it. Fashioned a replacement of sorts and that’s that till the next time.
Many thanks again to all involved, next time I’d get a genuine spider though.

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

Inner bearing is 6207 which sounds good.
Just need to clean up the inner carrier and it has some corrosion but should be downhill from here!
    Thanks

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

Thanks for all that Dave. Shaft of spider measured 34mm for inner bearing.
Have taken them to work to knock out as on night shift now

Covered in gunk but all still there. See what you mean about the spider screws.
The outer bearing inner diameter is 30mm so I guess I need a spider kit 30mm, new spider screws, a belt pulley bolt and a new drum joint seal.
Can you think of anything else Dave?
    Thanks

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

Cheers Dave, realised about the loctite after, oh well.
Still, I persevered and it’s out!
Spider is fubared. Cracked with lumps of metal missing which found in the drain.
But, the inside of the drum is spotless, no mould which is good.
Is the hole at the back of the outer down from the bearing a tell tale for the water seal?
Time to get on with the next bit.

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

Any ideas how to get out a seized in spider shaft to bearing?
Have used plus gas and wood with wacking but no good
Bolt sheared on removal so will need a new spider anyway and lots of pieces of metal have been coming out!
    Thanks

Copy that iadom, strip day tomorrow so I’ll find out then. Interested to see if my maintenance schedule is up to scratch when I split it all apart.
    Cheers

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

    sounds like a plan Dave.
I would change the bearings anyway after potentially 15 years
Am i right in assuming the bearing cups are the same outer size its just the spider diameter thats different so if I got a spider kit with bearings I could get an order in now?
I did the brushes a couple of years ago and the shocks a bit before that. I have given the shocks a quick shove and they still feel ok compared to the knackered ones I replaced.
    i
Have also found a youtube vid showing the order of things you described earlier.

So in short I would get a spider kit, new attaching screws and a drum seal?

    thanks, look like fun!

    Re: Hotpoint WMA74 drum issue.

Appreciate the input Dave and Kai.
I’ll need to take a butchers to see what size it is. Can you tell size without splitting the drum as like most, we can’t live without a machine for long?

Hi Dave and thanks for the info.

Strange about the pics as link view is switched on in G drive for those two.

sounds like I have a fun time ahead.

Any suggestions on where to go for a strip down manual?
I’ve found a WMA32 series manual on t’interweb to read if that’s of any use?

    Regards

Sorry Don, they call themselves optimum but it’s Euronics really.

I’ll check out F&P too then, ta.

    Thanks Don,

I guessed that about Liebherr and the 90 also commands a hefty price tag. I’ve just found they do 75s which we are looking at too. We have a back up ( beer ) fridge and freezer in the utility for overflow and would rather fully stock it than run one half empty.

I got the Bosch neff thing but she has seen the blooming slide away door on the neff so that choice may have been made for me!

Went to an optimum today who were very helpful and seemed to want to make deals which was nice using internet prices too.
They mentioned F&P as another good brand. Any thoughts on those for reliability spares etc?

    Thanks

Re: Hotpoint LFT 114 warning lights

    Thanks iadom,

As it happens after the cold wash finished, a little while after the machine just started the pump back up and kept running and when I opened the door 2&4 were flashing again.

Guess that points to the pcb if it just decides to do something on its own?

I did look in the error codes but didn’t see the LFT? Sorry.

    Thanks
