    Re: HOTPOINT VTD20G T/D

As mentioned earlier, today I did my first VTD00P rear shaft/bearing kit (HPT1703080) replacement. It took me nearly 2 hours 😥 I had a lot of trouble removing the remains of the front air duct seal and drum rear seal. The old adhesive being very difficult.

I found the existing setup had a M10 washer in use so I used it again.

Also my first use of my new belt fitting tool (HPT5600266).

ive done loads, and they all scrape sooner or later, save some money and time and fit a new drum!!!

Can you give us the part number of the drum assy with the different rear profile, please ?

on all models prior to the VTD range (may 2004) the 2mm spacer washer should be fitted between the collar and bearing support bracket
I took that to mean dont fit it on VTD’s although I always used to. How’s it read to you?

    wilf

p.s. fitted a kit last Friday there was no washer in the kit and none on the original.still worked ok

    Thanks for that Wilf.
The leaflet that came with my kit is #8300196 and supersedes leaflet #8300191. So I am confused more than ever now. I have got this job to do in the morning and I wil try with and without the M10 washer to see which is best.

Sorry Wilf, but the instruction leaflet that came with this kit makes no mention of leaving off the M10 washer.

    HI 🙂
Just to let you know Ive orderd the shaft and belt and the shaft has come as a kit Part no 1703080 V4 shaft kit comes with
    drum front seal
    another drum seal
    shaft
    rear bearing
    4 plastic bearings
    m10 washer plus destruction leaflet
wouldnt it be a lot easier to just make the belt a little bit bigger :rolls:
    Mark 🙂

I forgot to mention all the extra goodies, you should change the rear seal at the very least, it is thicker and pushes the drum away from the back panel together with the washers.

    Jim.

So it looks like the M10 washer is important ❓

I have this job to do on Tuesday to a VTD00P and the kit (HPT1703080) I had delivered by CDS is missing the M10 washer. Will have to see if I can find one. How thick does it have to be ❓

Re: The Hotpoint WMS38 and door locked flashing neon story.

Just thought I should post an update to this WMS38 saga.

On Monday I spoke to Lee at EMW Electronics. He said it was a faulty door interlock again, even though I had put the new Metaflex version on the machine. Apparently some can be faulty out of the box. ❗

I called back to the washer and this time gave the wiring a good inspection, and found another shorting wire. This time under the wash tub near the join of the two halves. This I repaired and secured. Then I changed the interlock again, but this time using a new Rold one.

All worked well and it has been almost 24 hours and no call of woe from the customer 🙂

thanks Greg but I already did that. It only mentions non BK322 applications. I was trying to find out what the washing machine repair trade would use it for.

Re: Hoover HNWL6136S : low dryer heat?

On high heat tumble dryer with fan, valve, heaters and pump running you should have a reading of 6.04amps (low heat = 3.80amps)

    Check your email….. 😉

Thankyou Martin very much. That will help me if I get a recall.

Sorry I am new here and I forgot there was a parts forum. 😥

I can’t seem to find a photo of this fan. I am hoping that 50226087-00/0 is the same as Connections FAN4400 as I have them in stock, and I have fitted many before. ❓

    Re: Bluetooth or Handsfree?

It sounds like a good replacement for an in-car hands free installation, but it lacks the flexibility of a mobile and bluetooth headset. Some engineers take the phone into the house during a repair call, others do not.

I like to be able to take calls from potential customers at any time.

BTW it’s worth noting that if you answer a mobile call while the engine is still switched on, then you are still breaking the law.

Re: Customer used dye and now getting marks on clothes.

Thanks to all who took the trouble to reply.

The water around here is fairly soft, so I am not bothering with Calgon.

However I will change the Hoover AL130 01 door gasket and try a couple of 95oC washes, followed by a 40oC wash with washing soda crystals. Then I will try a test wash with some old dust sheets in. I hope that will do the trick.

I will also talk the customer out of using dye in their washer again.

The part needed to be ordered and when the engineer fitted the part it didn’t cure the fault. After further investigation he announced it was the power module at fault, it was BER and apologised but walked away with the £80.

It sounds like a cowboy has been at work. I wonder if for the diagnosis he could have bypassed the door switch just to see if his guess was right.
