Are you ‘Waffling’ on Mike because deep down, you know what I’m saying or asking is right?
Do you seriously believe that misleading a consumer is morally and legally ok?

As a Moderator, I suggest that you start a new thread if you want to debate the differences between the WTA and DASA.
Please stay on topic. That is 0800 Repair.
I’ll once again quote my own post below to keep it on track…!
washdoctor wrote:So is now the point to conclude this thread as Mike (An 0800 Repair Franchisee) is here just for a laugh, Oldtog (A DASA Council Member) thinks I should ‘GET A LIFE’ and Martin (An appliance repairer) thinks the trade is doomed (I hope not BTW, I have another 30 Years left before I retire in this game (God willing)…! But… Ok… Let’s sum it up quickly.
0800 Repair (A competitor to every independent repairer in the country) advertise to the consumer false facts on their website that WILL encourage some consumers to use them over you and that’s ok. That’s morally and legally fine? Yeah?
DASA are aware that one of THEIR MEMBERS (0800 Repair) are advertising something that is misleading and cannot be guaranteed nor logistically possible (Due to a lack of Franchisees and needing to rely on non CRB Checked JTM Agents), but that’s ok. That’s morally fine? Yeah?
If people read those 2 questions and can honestly say, yeah, that’s fine… Then I’ll shut it. I’ll side with Martin, admit the trade is doomed and I’ll move on in to the yonder with my tail between my legs.

Thank you Mike.
Now… Back to where I wanted it left to get answers to my issues on 0800 Repair:

Mike… I gave you the WTA Web Address some time ago…! Like I said, you don’t READ…! You only like to pick on what you happen to see.
FYI, the WTA Constitution can be seen under the tab ‘About the WTA’. :rolls:
AND AM I BRICK OR GLASS???

Ahhhhhh…. With you now Mike… You mean:

I’ll certainly email DASA about that comment, but I’m confident that is a ‘Typo’ or a TXT that was written prior to the WTA.
I’d not class that as misleading a consumer in the way you’re thinking, as there is no intent there to make a consumer believe something is true, when it’s not. I have every confidence that DASA will amend that TXT as soon as they are aware of the statement.
Thanks for pointing that out though Mike π
Back to my website (As you challenged, I accepted)… Am I ‘Brick’ or ‘Glass’?

Mike… Please see the picture above that was taken from the paragraph you’re talking about…?! It does NOT state that they are the only TA…?
Have you had a few?

mikeday0800 wrote:Had to join? No wanted to. If it gives my customers confidence that they are choosing a dasa member then why not??
Wrong answer Mike. Apparently, ANY and EVERY 0800 Repair Franchisee HAS to be a DASA Member, paid for in the first year by 0800 Repair and vetted by DASA independently, then given a Provisional Membership. Then the Franchisee has to renew every year at his own cost to sustain the level of the agreement between DASA & 0800 Repair. If that’s wrong… Please, email me…!
mikeday0800 wrote:On the dasa website it states that they are the only uk trade association are you both now suggesting that dasa’s website is also misleading ???
Where does it say that? I can only see:

Which is correct. They are a National Trade Association of independent domestic appliance service organisations…! So are the WTA…!

Might I suggest, all be it rightly or wrongly, that you think DASA are the only TA in this industry because they are the ones you HAD to join to be a Franchisee?
Oh… And am I ‘Brick’, or ‘Glass’?

I’m now literally laughing out loud…! This goes to show how much you actually READ compared to what you like to pick out. For illustration purposes, the image you’re on about is:

That Mike, is the WTA Logo. The Whitegoods Trade Association. The website can be seen below:

I do repair coffee machines. If someone really wants a blender repairing, I’ll do that too. So not misleading there π
Where does it say that UK Whitegoods is a TA?
So far… I’m brick? π

What is funny is how so many people on here mainly the moderators seem to believe that they have a right to slag of the competition and I’m supposed to stay out of it
Please re-read my 2 questions above…! :rolls:
Advertise as much as you want, or can afford = Happy Days.
Advertise false facts = Not Happy Days.
Mike, are you allowed to advertise in your local area as a self employed individual? I.e Advertise direct from Mike to Consumer? Or do you have to rely on 0800 Repairs advertising campaigns that they don’t do (According to the FAQ’s to the consumer section on their website) :rolls:

P.S… My website is above. Let me know whether I’m ‘Bricks or Glass’. 8)

:rolls: Yeah… he said
“With regard to your attendance at next weeks meeting, I feel your email has adequately detailed and explained the issues you wished to raise and I have, in part, responded to your points. I think it would be better that I raise the items that require further clarification at our Council meeting and, if I feel it necessary and appropriate, I will revert to you once the Association has had time to consider the issues and examined the evidence. I will forward a copy of your note to the Officers and Council prior to the meeting so that they are briefed, first hand, on the issues you have raised.”
There is no clear reason there other than he has informed me of what his intentions are…!
Still, what gets me is that today, was prime time to set me straight in public and put an end to my persistance on this matter. 8)
That is the only reference to my attendance to the DASA Meeting in the reply from Steve Debeger. As you have a copy OT, you can confirm that π
