Yeah I agree Ally, but my thoughts are… Get an add out, get people to ‘Like’ it (Which adds it to their profile), get a page up, again, as people ‘Like’ it, it gets added to their profile, and all this activity gets broadcasted to their friends too… So, what you have is in theory, some Facebook member you’ve never known, has ‘Liked’ your page because her / his friend did. If their appliance ever breaks, they MIGHT think about ‘That’ page on Facebook and refer back to it…
It’s like a friend recommendation if you follow me?
I don’t think it’ll get me a repair tomorrow, but longer term, I think it might pay off… But I might be wrong, so don’t shoot me if so!

I don’t know why sometimes I appear, and othertimes don’t… Will be my next investigation when I have another quiet day at the office! No doubt I have to change something in Adwords that I’m un aware of at the moment, but we’ll see.

Agreed! But it’s about awareness more than people ‘Looking’ for a repair. If people see the add, they ‘Like it’ and it remains on their profile. At a later date, they might refer back to it…
Not sure how it will do, nothing bar a few quid to lose in the short term by trying, one thing is for sure though, my add has been on 11,632 peoples screens today!
I’ve also created a Facebook Page today that my friends can ‘Like’. As one ‘Likes’ the page, it gets advertised to all their friends also on various ‘News Feeds’ so it sorta ‘Pyramids’ if you get me?
Anyway, will keep posting my experiences with Facebook advertising here as things happen, or not… Whichever!

I don’t always appear anyway π
I just searched “Fridge repairs in Cardiff” and appeared 2nd π
But I could do the same search later, and I don’t appear at all π₯

You can set your own cost per click and daily maximum spend so you’re in control of what you spend. I’ve set mine to over 18 yr old profiles and a 30 Mile radius of Cardiff.
So far, I’ve had 11,632 impressions & 4 Clicks. I’ll see whether it generates anything in the near future, but with that many impressions, and the massive amount of Facebook users, it must be worth a shot!

Mine says ‘UK Size 10, Made in Vietnam’?! π
It’s a bit hard to understand how they outright ‘Refuse’ to cover lifters under warranty though… Some will come off even without washing daps!
Anyway, who still washes trainers in a washing machine? Everyone knows top basket in dishwasher does a better job!

BlockedRe: WTA website update
It’s not just membership@ Steve, it’s chairman@ and enquiries@(I think) aswell, sent emails to 3 addesses, yours was just the one I pasted reply here.
Don’t think it’s good enough myself, the rate still hasn’t been changed since I picked it up on the 23/06, and the names are still wrong. Image is a lot IMO… Mistakes like these are pretty poor, and after a Month almost, still haven’t been corrected…??
That website is our shop front… Can we get it sorted? If no-one has time or whatever, I’ll do it! Within 20mins!
Whilst I’m on one about the website, the member website / member list seriously needs updating and published. DASA have a pretty smooth website, and are clearly advertising their members… Why do we keep our members hidden? Surely by advertising names, it will be a carrot to possible new members as they would WANT to be seen to be associated with the WTA?
Some things IMO can be dealt with in ‘Spare Time’, but ANYTHING that is in the public eye, should be dealt with and updated / changed immidiately? Whoever was allocated or volunteered to be responsible for web update / maintenence, needs their wrist slapped! It’s not good enough to still have mistakes on our shop sign, a month after them being spotted!
Ade.

BlockedRe: baumatic gas hob
I enquired with Corgi last year about this on behalf of the WTA. The reply I recieved was posted elsewhere, but I’ll re-post it below.
I would be happy to get this updated with Gas Safe if needed, but I am quite happy having my engineers replace electrical components on gas appliances. Reply recieved was as follows:
Adrian
Thanks for your email.
An βelectricianβ can repair faults on a gas appliance providing he does not disconnect a gas appliance, break into any gas installation pipework, work on gas bearing parts, connections, valve gaskets or flue joints, etc or do anything that would effect the combustion process. If he does he is carrying out βgas workβ as defined in the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, he would need to be CORGI registered.
Any electrical repair carried out on any appliances must not in any way effect the safety of the appliance.
I trust this answers your enquiry

And all the email addresses are wrong? They are all:

BlockedRe: Rate reduction issues
Do you know if this person was a DASA council member, or an engineer member?
I’d assume DASA’s involvment in a Network would just kinda be a link from manufacturers & Ins companies to direct engineers, as opposed to forming and administrating a ‘Bonafide’ UK Service Company?

π Just thought it’s either roll over and be tickled whenever any suit decides to change things etc, or do something bigger & better for the future. I can’t see & definately am not silly enough to think we / someone could have this massive operation set up and running this year, not even next year, but with the right ‘Team’ with the backbone / drive & desire to make a new way for us guys, why not one day? π

Thankyou for that Jackal, posts like that remind us what we’re doing & why!
Anyway, back to DASA, they ‘Failed’ me personally back in 2007, hence me leaving and wanting to find an ‘Alternative’ to DASA. I too have gained much more from the WTA.
For anyone that is not sure who we are (WTA), come along in September to the WTA meeting. Full details will be posted in another thread shortly, but if anyone would like any information on the meeting, or the WTA, feel free to PM or email me.
