The Council member list needs re-adjusting… Steve is in same line as Bryan:

    From DASA site:

“With regard to the Extraordinary meeting that was to be held on the 7th of July concerning repair rates
This issue will now be placed on the agenda of the Council meeting that is to be held on the 8th.
A statement will be made regarding the concerns of the membership in due course.
All members are welcome to attend.”

^ I’m wondering the same as Bryan… If I could get away, I probably would… My first ‘Offical’ meeting as a representative from the WTA… I’d LOVE it! People from CDSL wouldn’t expect me there! 🙂

Will do K, but I’ll wait until you’re back on home soil otherwise those stares you’re getting might evolve into a more physical issue! 🙂

I’d lose that customer dude! Let your competitor have him / her!

If you state your fees either at point of booking, or, if that doesn’t work for you, DEFINATELY before opening the toolbox, you should never really have to negociate again?!

    Re: RepairCare Rate reduction issues

    Steve,

My initial reply was against teaming up with Qualtex to start a new network TO compete with CDSL, which would be bull if that wasn’t on their agenda. It kinda still is, although after the recent CDSL actions, I’m more inclined now to stick my nose through the door to see what could be done!

My thoughts are with a WTA or UKW or ‘X’ Company new network. Simples. I’m now looking 5yrs time, what could be? Who knows, but any comments I made previously, I still kinda stick to. No way we can take over anything tomorrow, or next year, or the year after, but with faith in the UKW & WTA circle… One day?!

And Ken is spot on when he says contract work is full of politics etc, I’ve been doing contract work for a few years now and I’m still blind to it all! What I do know now, is these are the kinda people that will take you & your wife for a curry, beers on them, food on them, have a good night, a good laugh, then as you jump in the cab, will say ‘Oh, by the way, you’re losing half your area’! And wont think twice about it!

I have a swear word in mind for these suits, but it will get censored… But you know what I’m saying Steve 🙂

    Re: Subs

Is it fair to say start the WTA subscriptions from Jan 1st 2011?

1… It’s June, by the time Invoices get out & paid it’s going to be August, mid year renewals? Neater Jan – Dec?

2… Nothing is going on in the WTA members forum! What are they paying for?

3… WTA has funds? That arn’t being spent… Is there really a need to Invoice engineers for the remaining few Months?

4… This was just a thought! But maybe announce that membership fees this year is being ‘Zero’d’ but all Invoices for 2011 will go out November 1st, and must be paid by Dec 31st?

Lots going on this year, btween ourselves trying to get stuff sorted, maybe that’s why members forum has been quiet! Nothing to say really, things still in pipelines etc… 2011 new year, new vocal and paying WTA?

    Ade 🙂

    Re: RepairCare Rate reduction issues

I think regardless of what is said or done regarding the RC situation, it is what it is and IMO, they would have sat down today at some point and to be polite, said something along the lines of stuff them! If they don’t like, we’ll ALWAYS find someone else! Which they will!

I don’t believe it’s the lower management that have that attitude, i.e the guys that come see us etc, but upstairs, where the more expensive suits are worn, that will be the attitude I bet a pound to a penny!

There is a certain person in the RC forums, who for WELL over a year has been abusing RC for no rate increase for over 2 yrs (Barrie & Steven should know who I mean)… He has been BY FAR the most outspoken person there regarding negative posts towards RC and even started a Rate Increase thread where he bangs on about costs etc over & over! He is very blunt, very Anti-RC and they amounts they pay, and has been like I say, for well over a year! I was earlier shocked to see him publicly announce, he was going to take the new rate and still give a 1st class service, and the rest of us ”PUT UP OR SHUT UP”! < His words!

Over a years worth of opinions, turned around within a weekend! Hmmmmmm! 😕

Anyways, I aint going to say anymore about this now, it just depresses me, because as per most repairers, I’m screwed with the ‘Accept this to get the rest of the work’ statement! But as per some other posts of mine, I’d like to believe that one day, we / us / someone will step up, and maybe stop this sorta thing happening in years to come!

Before I sign off on the rate reduction issue… You know what really annoys me… In ‘X’ time, the rate will increase naturally, not to £5 more than what it was, or £10 more, but back to what it was, and we’ll all be happy & gratefull! What a joke a!

Although in many ways K, you’re a man of mystery, I somehow feel that what you’re onto is something that could be very, very sucsessfull!

When you say you need the help of the troops, you have one here 🙂 And I’m sure MANY more behind me!

This is something I’m wanting to follow very keenly!

Loving the above post! And Ken, wanna buy a car? Lol

Only one solution to this to stop this BULLSHIT happening over & over again… Set up our own network! Flip it!

Might take years yeah! But we all young pups! Lets do it?! I’m some young dude that’s losing faith in this trade! Lots like me out there… Need to keep them! And me! 8)

    1. People who use the fixed cost option, HAVE done there homework, and most likely, used one of you first as a ‘No callout fee’ to diagnose the fault, realised they are faced with a huge bill, so they Goooooogle!

    2. I CANNOT think of a RC Chargeable job I’d have got if it was me to customer! Repairs are ALWAYS more than what they pay, I don’t think we have EVER seen a sock in the filter with a RC Chargeable!

    3. I am neither ‘Stupid’, nor ‘Desperate’, and the fact you seem to ‘Tar’ RC Agents with that brush is a bit, insulting!
