As far as I believe, they are not moving away from CDSL, just simply adding a couple of Engineers of their own in very busy areas.

Hi Jim… 🙂
You are right, wireless networks are protected with a WEP key. I was just saying how handy (with the cust permission) this phone was for internet acsess and SAT nav. If the cust agrees, you have only got to tap in the WEP key into your phone (found on the router) and hey presto….. internet!

With the Nokia N95 (and maybe others,,, I’m not sure), You can connect to internet via customers modem providing they have a wireless router (I think most now are wireless) and I believe that is free as you are using a paid for acsess point. I hope I’m not wrong on this! 😯 As I may have a very expensive bill next month! 😯 Hehe!

BlockedRe: Customers Attitudes
Not so long ago, we had a customer phone in on a Tuesday after being referred to us from an Insurance Company. After taking her details, we offered her an appointment for Thursday…….
Well…. After the initial obsticle of ‘what do you mean thursday, I want someone here today’ was tackled, we thought all was well. Then we have a call from the Ins Co asking if we can get someone out sooner. After explaining Thursday is our earliest (and having the backing of the Ins Co), again we thought all was well……..
Untill our phone rang! It was her! We were branded as a pathetic organisation who cannot live up to the requirements of the public. She also went on to say that she would be letting everyone she knows what an incompetent Company we were so my collegue got abit nervous and passed me the phone.
First thing she said to me……… “Just what do you think I pay my £5 per Month for” 😯 😯 😯
This particular conversation was swiftly ended by myself, but my worry is, are more and more people expecting super service as the same sort of things are coming out of peoples mouths (although not to this level every time).
Funny thing is, when you take your new car to the dealer for repair, they keep it for a day usually causing some travel inconvenience then when you go to get it and they say they needed to order a part….. bring it back next Wed/Thursday, how many times do people stand there and abuse the staff? How many would use the old ‘Dont you think you should have that part in your stores’…….. I bet hardly any……. What is so different about us?

BlockedRe: Indesit Franchise
Well I’m shocked 😯 !!,
I worked for Merloni for years, also, I know to this day 3 Franchise Engineers (well 2 now…..) and they are that busy…… they call into my unit asking for abit of work now and again!I didnt think I’d ever see the day someone felt so attached to Merloni…… I personally hated my experience there and as per my last post on this issue, I’ve seen the effects the Franchise causes!
Just think, if the Franchise was soooo good, dont you think nearly all of us Independants would be writing cheques to Merloni as we speak…… 😉 ? After all, we are allready self employed and in some cases we employ people so any work offer to us is welcomed. But the reallity of it is they can only prey on their own workers because a man off the street wouldnt touch it!
As for Private work….. Are you aware that you are in breech of your Contract if you carry out any private work on merloni products? Yep… there goes quite a good size chunk of the private market for a start….. then when you think about what Kwatt says about competitors, there goes another chunk…. Hmmm 🙁 !
If you are seriously cosidering buying into this….. see if you can cofirm your Friends Icome with him. I know this may seem odd, but if he is a good friend, he will give you the best advise based on his opinions and should offer little or no resistance is showing you some ACTUAL figures. (not forecast or intended targets, real figures from last year).
Just to finish off…. I were going to give someone my hard earned Money for the privillage of working under their name… I would expect at least double those rates offered by Merloni to at least stand on the same floor as other Companies that pay good rates without asking for money upfront!

BlockedRe: Who should pay?
*** RESULT ***
Firstly, thanks for all of your advice 🙂 …
I sent an abrupt letter with a photocopy of a filled out County Court application to the cust giving them 14 Days to pay. I was hoping that the photocopy of the court app would encourage them to act rather than ignore…………… It worked!
The cust went Banannas at the Ins Company and hey presto……. I am paid 😀
As I was rigidly told by the Ins Company that I wasnt getting paid, this goes to show that the best way to get a reaction is through the customer. It seems they have a louder voice than us!

BlockedRe: Who should pay?
Well chaps, I’m abit confused now 😕 ! From the info in my first post, who should pay? Customer or Insurance Company? If the Ins company issue a job number, surely they are liable, however, if the customer claims on a policy that should have been cancelled as the appliance had been written off once….. surely thay are also liable?!
Is it a case of flip a coin and persue a claim 😕 ?
