Think they are just imposing this just in case you decide to leave after gaining your reassessment, seems fair to me,would not know the legal implications though. 8)

    Re: gas appliances

have to agree with you wsts,i only get mail from corgi direct, nothing from gas safe :rolls: i know the initial outlay can be high, just think if you wanted to be an electrician, they pay a lot more annually,it all depends on what area of work you want to enter, and if you can make it profitable, every step we take is a risk, the choice is yours 8) 8)

    Re: gas appliances

not had them hassle me,however if it was still corgi you would have still had to pay nearly double for your first year 😥 i am sure you will find it better once your first year is over,i am back in a week for reassessment on my boilers, day off and i get to pay for the privilege 😉 just remember its gas. 8)

Re: Boiler issue, can anyone help?

do you have repair cover with n power?if so it is simple enough for them to bring your boiler back to working correctly, the seal would be readily available,if you do not have the cover i would suggest you call in an rgi to rectify the fault, come across this a few times and the customer has been recommended that a new boiler is required even though it could be repaired.HTH 8)

    Re: gas appliances

not just a case of being trained just to fit appliances adv,you will need to first pass your ccn1 which is a core to all other areas of gas work, without this you cannot gain further qualifications or perform any work, once you have passed you have to go back to school every 5 years to resit each individual qualification, bit of a pain really and pay a yearly subsciptio to gas safe :rolls: as for being worth it,well it just depends if you can get the work,i do boilers, fires, cookers and pipework so not stuck to just one area really which can help in these turbulent times, competition is just the same as in the whitegoods sector, people coming in with quotes lower than you could ever do,not trying to put you off adv,its there if you want to do it.dont know about training centers in midlothian, pls avoid these so called fasttrack courses, total waste of time and your money.HTH 8)

Re: What exactly is ‘domestic’ gas operatice

i would contact gas safe mate,i know what some companies are like when it comes to their employees, the buck stops with you.(lucky to have a job)not if something ever went wrong, you could end up in a right load of s**t.dealing with gas here and playing with peoples lives,im afraid from what you say the company you work for are just in it for the money and not carrying out the correct procedures for which they are being contracted to do,comcat qualifications are what you require to work on commercial installations,if you do not posses these, steer clear 😉 HTH

domestic and commercial are totaly different spuddy, and you should not be made to undertake work which you are not certified to do,any technical info you require just call gas safe register, they will give you all the info you require.HTH 8)

Re: scrappage scheme …..for white goods…!!!!

might be ok in the short term for sales, however for repairs it would be a disaster,(forget having it repaired lets go buy a new one)a great deal of thought gone into this idea,i think not. :clown:
