Cheers spanner.
Well, the only fault s I know is that the fridge is too cold. Compressor does cut in and out as normal but funny you should mention the fast freeze neon as I am told that this has been coming on.
It was off when I looked at it but it has been coming on.
So maybe a pcb then?

Hi Dansta and thanks for your reply.
It does not say it is frost free but it is apparently as I’ve looked the model up.
It is not a cold-air type fridge it is a wet wall type.
There is only a single dial control at the top which is via a pcb and thermistors, so I am assuming it could just be the probe. Obviously it could be the pcb misreading but I said I would try a probe as a first attempt to fix, particularly as it is cheaper than a pcb.
I originally thought it was a straightforward mechanical Danfoss type stat but only when I looked it up did I find out it was a potentiometer and pcb/probe arrangement.
I don’t normally get involved with refrigeration as it is always hassle, but I am doing this as a favour for a friend as a non-expert-but-know-a-bit type of person 😀
Give me a washing machine any day!

Somewhere on the Gas safe register it states that engineers can have their photos removed on request.
My details have as yet not appeared on the site!

ParticipantRe: ‘No Call Out Charge’ beware!!!
I agree with the sanction actually. That firm stated “No call out charge” but then simply charged a call-out charge – albeit with another name, a ‘diagnostic fee’.
Whether or not anybody believes it is viable to offer a ‘no call out’ fee, the fact is, some will, on the basis that it is better to get a look at a potential job.
If somebody DOES state that there is no call out charge, they should have the decency to honour that statement and not simply use semantics to hide the fact there is a charge in any case.
Many firms I have seen state ‘no call out charge’ then (in brackets) state, ‘on completed repairs’. Therefore, if the customer does not have the repair done, they are charged the call-out fee. If the customer has the repair, the call-out charge originally charged is refunded.
The above, I feel is just as much a con.
The old adage about having to speculate to accumulate is true. If firms offer a genuine free call-out, they are opening up opportunities which otherwise may not become apparent.

ParticipantRe: LG spares?
Many Many thanks to all who have responded.
This forum is worth it’s weight in gold. As ever, I find that this is the first place I turn to now when trying to source a difficult part.
I can’t seem to find the LG website despite doing a Google search. If anybody could supply the url I’d be grateful.

ParticipantRe: Dishes/Cutlery coming out dyed ‘blue’ in D/w
I have seen this quite a few times. In those cases, It has been Finish being used, however, I have been to lots of the same machine where finish is not being used without the fault, so I think the Finish is a bit of a red (or blue) herring!
The suggestion of copper is an interesting one though, perhaps it is a chemical reaction between the tablet and copper, Copper sulphate is blue isn’t it!

ParticipantRe: diplomat adp 8224
Hi, the E7 is “no drain” as stated above. This is very unlikely to be a timer or pump fault though. If you select any programme, you should immediately hear the pump doing it’s flush through. If you don’t hear that sound, it will probably be something jammed in the pump. A piece of glass usually!
The pump is simple to remove, needing just 1 screw to be removed. The machine does not need to be removed.
REMOVE THE POWER PLUG BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE!!
If nothing is found, it may well be that the foreign object washed out as you removed the pump, as there is a small gush of water as it is removed.
Of course it must be said REMOVE THE PLUG FIRST to ensure that you don’t electrocute yourself!

Just thought I’d mention that it was me who posted the above reply but I was signed in as guest! Not that it is important, but it is better to show who has made the post if they are a member of the site

ParticipantRe: WMA40 Hotpoint Door hook, Interlock
Many thanks Martin. I was in the suppliers today and they couldn’t supply that info! They even close every day at 1pm, hows that for non-service!
I even checked on Qualtex’s website, but it is so out-of-date it doesn’t appear to have WMA machines listed.
I don’t know how you managed to cross-reference the part numbers, but it is much appreciated.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint AW1050 Module
The Hotpoint AW1050 was a result of 2 seperate slips of paper and a couple of lagers! I’ve got it all mixed up!!
Thank you for pointing it out. I have a Tricity-Bendix (Zanussi) job on the go at the moment and I absent-mindedly put that as the model number 😳
I should have put it down as a Hotpoint BWM12, 1200 spin washing machine!!!!
Red face and apologies all round!
Any help with the aforesaid module would be appreciated.
Regards to all,
